Inquisitive Minds

Updated on October 3, 2013
Source

I have been taken.... to far distant shores
ridden upon ships... with giant oars,

flown through skies .. with feathered wings
Oh the places ....my mind has seen

If you could read the words
of tales told... by the sage,
stories read and absorbed... page by page

Lands with maidens ... so very sweet
with mountains and valleys
for my eyes a treat

Here in my room I may sit,
but my mind is soaring... bit by bit,
to the stars and back in minutes time

Now I have finished.. all my rhyme,
so when you feel your need... to someone be
just read a book .. it will set you free

Well this one is going up on my wall. I will now begin to say it to my son who is just barely starting to read. It truly captures the magic. Thank you.

So encouraging to the written word. How wonderful to place the spirit of reading in this poem. Hoping and praying this generation does not lose site other wonderment of reading. Great Hub

Cleaner3 Voted up and beautiful, I love this because you very succinctly described the heart of those who just love to read. I don't know what I would do without books! NOT a nook or a kindle...a book where I can underline, write notes in the margins, turn the pages, re-read my notes and absorb and accompany the writer on his/her journey. THANK YOU.

Blessings, Sparklea :) PS The picture is exquisite.

The flow of your words in this poem is skillfully done. The last two poems of yours are very beautiful and seem to flow gently into the mind to stay. Jamie

What a lovely poem. It instantly reminded me of a children's novel: The Ship that Flew, our children loved that and it took them to so many interesting places.

thank you Deborah .. I actually tried the site and it was not worth it .. my dear.. I also write on Google + it is an interactive site .. and it is way more suited to my style .. they also have no restrictions and the artists there readily acknowledge each others work and support each other... it is great site.
