Chicken Soup in Books: Inspirational Stories and Quotes From Real People
So what are the ingredients?
No, I am not talking about that kind of chicken soup. Although soup and I do not go hand in hand. A couple of years ago I tried my hand (no pun intended) at making soup and I never followed the instructions. “Stir continuously until boil” will haunt me for the rest of my life. I ended up burning the soup and making the house reek of mushroom soup.
So What Soup Is It?
Anyway, the soup I am referring to is normally called “Chicken Soup For The Soul.” But there are so many different versions for teens, parents, sisters, girlfriends, golden oldies and even college students! The options are endless with the title and the stories inside provide much inspiration. Besides the stories, there are poems, quotes and little cartoons in the book. Each story serves a purpose and listed under a suitable heading like love, family or happy endings.
Why have I chosen to write a hub about Chicken Soup? Well simply because I feel that it may inspire someone else out there the way they have inspired me. The stories of courage and overcoming various fears are truly couragous and heart-warmingly inspiring that one cannot help but devour each page.
I remember reading stories about a girl who fell pregnant at 17 and gave her baby up for adoption. Many years later, her daughter posted an ad on the local notice board to seek her biological mother. The mother saw the ad and met her long lost daughter after so many years apart and formed a strong bond.
Another story is one of a woman who had lost her husband due to cancer. Before he died, they had a dog which she hated but kept him after her husband died because her husband loved him. One night the dog fell into the pool in the dark and the woman rescued the dog and they formed a mutual companionship.
Not all are heart wrenching. Some are about finding love in the strangest of places or dancing the rain. The writers that submitted the work are not well known celebrities but ordinary people that want to share their story with the world.
Where Can I Find Chicken Soup?
I have read many of the books available and I think that they are definitely a good read. These books can be found in your local library, bookstore, perhaps online and maybe a friend could have a copy. Grab a cup of tea, settle down into a chair with your Chicken Soup in hand and be prepared to be inspired!
