Inspirational Mondays, Quotes for Stay at Home Mothers

Monday marks the beginning of a new week for most of us. It is a new week to be concerned with working inside or outside of the home. Committing to be a stay at home mom is just as strenuous as working in the corporate world. I recently joined the sisterhood of other moms that stay at home. For some it may be temporary, for others it is permanent. Whatever the situation, we know that there are good days as well as bad. We know the joys and disappointments of trying to run a house, take care of the children, homeschool, and even find time to work from our lap tops. Here are quotes of encouragement for stay at home moms this week.
"How beautiful it is to be alive." – Henry Sutton
Each day that we live is a gift. Each day that we have with our growing children is a blessing. Regardless of how you feel about the day ahead, it is important to start each day with a new attitude. Make a point to not let small things bother you.
"Don’t take today for granted." – Unknown
Never take today for granted. Our next breath is not promised. It is funny how death has a way of reminding us to treasure life. Within the past 7weeks of this writing, my husband and I saw three friends pass away within two weeks of each other. Life is precious no matter how hard living seems to be.
"To teach is to touch a life forever." – Unknown
As parents we are always teaching. We are lifelong teachers. The longer we live, the more wisdom we can share. Whether you are a stay at home mom or a corporate mom, remember this quote when you told your child to do something for the millionth time. It’s frustrating to repeat yourself, but it is rewarding when your child learns the lesson.
"Find a job that you love and you’ll add 5 days to every week." – H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
If you are at home raising your family, you know it is a thankless job. We don’t have the pleasure of having an hourly rate of pay. This is a job you have to love, otherwise you will quit. When you love this job of raising your family the 5 day work week won’t feel like work.
"It’s not the load that breaks you down, but the way you carry it." – Unknown
Having a lot of tasks is very overwhelming. It can make the day dreadful. However, if you see this day as dreadful then it will be dreadful. Do what you can and put the rest to the side.
"No day is so bad it can’t be fixed with a nap." –Unknown
Take a break to shut your eyes, even if it is for a power nap. You may find your day going in the wrong direction. If you can’t find the time to get things done, relax. Take a siesta and start over. I have found that when I have a bad day I feel more equipped to continue on after a nap with the children.
"A smile is the beginning of peace." – Mother Theresea
If you are upset or feeling negative emotions, smile through it. When your children see you smile they don’t worry as much. I know this first hand. There were days during my pregnancy where I felt miserable and sad due to some circumstances that were happening in my extended family. It showed on my face. My daughter would always ask if I was mad. My husband confirmed it by asking, where is your smile? He would tell me that I needed to smile more. I smile more now. My daughter no longer asks if I am mad.
"Set peace as your highest goal, and organize your life around it." –Brian Tracy
Organizing your day will bring peace. It gives you structure. If you take one minute to jot down a list of tasks you will find a sense of peace. This peace comes from knowing what lies ahead, even if your day is altered in some way.
"You’re not a failure if you don’t make it. You’re a success because you tried. "– Susan Jeffers
I have a tendency to cook the same things often. I know what my family likes so I make sure to make their favorite dishes. I find solace in this quote when I take on new recipes. I hate trying new recipes because I find ways to mess it up. When my new recipe doesn’t come out quite right I say to myself, at least I tried.
"The quieter you become the more you hear." - Unknown
At the end of the day you need quiet time to yourself to get your thoughts in order. Always make time yourself, by yourself.
