Inspiring Quote #1

Updated on July 29, 2010

“ The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company… a church… a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past… we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you… we are in charge of our Attitudes.”
Charles R. Swindoll

I first heard this quote in a meeting quite a few years ago and it has stuck with me ever since. In fact, I instill this mentality in all three of my kids, as well as keep it in practice everyday in my life. There are great results in the power of positive thinking!

Wise quote. Will have to keep this in mind daily.

Another quote that I love on positive thinking is - "Very often a change of self is needed more than a change of scene." - Arthur Christopher Benson

Great Quote. Swindoll was president for a while at DTS, a seminary I attended some many years ago now in Dallas. He wasn't there then, but became president in the 90's I believe.

I like that and it is so true.

A good attitude is the number one thing employers are looking for.

Another quote I like , along a similar vein is ..happiness is the space between stimulus and response.
