My First Love : An inspirational love poem

Updated on September 12, 2014

My life goes on without you

As the days pass

And when I think of all we had

I know they weren’t meant to last

I don’t know how I did it

Ignoring you day by day

I guess coz I’m not like you

But hey, being open, it’s your kind of way

I hear all these stories

Of you and your girl

I get so jealous

But it ain’t the end of the world

I see you talking to her

And oh! How I wish

To be the only girl in your life

But I can’t be selfish

Whenever your name is mentioned

I can’t help but think

How it used to be ‘You and Me’

But that’s all gone down the sink

All of our good times

I won’t forget

But all of our bad times

I dearly regret

Just seeing you

Sends me to cloud nine

I get all these feelings

Coz you’re always on my mind

Some say your love for me is gone

But I don’t want to be your enemy

And just hearing them say that

Is like being stung by a bee

No matter how brief our time was

I’m glad I met you

How I couldn’t have had you forever

I haven’t the faintest clue

I hear people say

That too much love can kill

I’ll always loving you still

Don’t think I’ll forget you

You mean so much to me

But I can’t hold you forever

Coz you were born to be free

I know I can’t have what I want

And that’s you

But being rejected is part of life

So what can I do?

But now that you’re gone

I want to be your friend

I promise to stay mutual

Right to the end

They say friendship always benefits

And love sometimes injures

So to all of you first-time-lovers

Beware of love’s dangers

@Angela Biggs - As a writer we live in fantasy world. A world only words can paint more vividly. Seeing from another person's lenses make life more dynamic. I am sure the person to whose mind mimicked would agree with me..lolz...Just make sure I don't write your mind next...thanks for commenting

No offense ladies, when I saw this poem I said, hmmm, girls will read this more.. I don't believe in first love, it is overrated. They make it sound like everything.. I mean can we still be friends.. I will rather have you as a friend than loose you. It is just too paradise to exist.. But I must say Ian.. It works.. The poem is a good start for a good day. Voted up all the way

This was a great read to start my morning, putting love in the air so to speak. While you are right, it is dangerous, it makes the world go round. I really like the part about still wanting to be friends, the mark of a kind soul.
