Into the Wind (a Haiku)

Updated on July 29, 2015
Greet the sun, oh feathered one...
Greet the sun, oh feathered one...
Soar in lofty heights from start of day...into the night...
Soar in lofty heights from start of day...into the night...
Rule from your royal throne on high...
Rule from your royal throne on high...
Greet the clouds and spread your regal wings...
Greet the clouds and spread your regal wings...

Fly into the wind,

Feathered creatures...soar aloft...

With swiftness, ascend.

Greet the smiling sun,

Breathe in the airs...spread your wings...

Jealousy of kings.

Reign on highest lofts,

Where royalty lives...on heights...

Fly in day and nights.

On you, God has smiled,

Feathered creatures of the wild...

Loves your hearts, so mild.

Have you ever watched large birds soaring above in the thermals, like eagles, kite or buzzards? So amazing. I think the best I've ever seen was a Peregrine Falcon descending at break-neck speed, wings tucked in, to fall upon prey way down below him; astounding! Sadly, not really in the wild as it was a falconry display but still wonderful.

You're right that they reach the heavens and enjoy such freedom - of land and sky. This is beautiful.

Yes, birds are my favorite feathered creatures our God has made. I often enjoy watching their antics and love their enlightening songs in the morning and evening. God bless. whonu

Birds are amazing creature to watch. Some glide, some flutter, some do a little of both. I envy the freedom they must feel when airborne.

Oh my! This was just wonderful. In the last month or so I have had special time with the great Condors and the amazing Hummingbirds. What marvelous joy they bring the openhearted. As does this poem.
