Intolerable Circumstances

Updated on April 1, 2017

There comes such a time when there can be no more endurance,

That worst of circumstances when is above respite, its assurance.

No more postponing, no interlude, no pausing, or an intermission,

Intolerable, certain acts, of those spoken, viewed, a reprehension.

This guilty party, but a shell of its former self, yet to be so insistent,

Every attempt at tempering down always proves to be so resistant.

The very self-conceit, his opinion of his own worth, so omnipresent,

When in truth, his stature is quite limited, slow of gate, a depressant.

When will the absent of mind and the superficial, a pseudo-self, admit,

They simply do not fit in the mould, the former laid, the latter, a misfit?

Must we continue to put up with this bad behaviour, a wrongful display,

This incessant need to self-promote, so projected, both night and day?

Turtle or tortoise, whichever you may be, why must you haunt us so,

You put on a big show, wherever you go, still limited, what you know.

That silly smile you flash, an epitome of brash, as you play to and fro,

No matter how hard you may try, it makes us want to cry, pain to grow.

Love those frogs and the tortoise. There are times that people bother me so much I wish I had a shell to crawl into and shut the world out for awhile.

This is a good expression of being fed up with self-conceit and ludicrous behavior of others. We see more if it daily and want a permanent cure for it. Thanks for the poem!
