More Valuable Than Chocolate!

Updated on July 20, 2017

Short Stories and poems with deeper meaning than what is visibly seen on the surface. Enjoy!

A Thing of Beauty

The Lord, family, loved ones, and simple joys are the greatest gifts of all, but a bit of chocolate doesn't hurt, either!

The Candyman Can!

Best Gifts!

Lovely are the presents

under the Christmas tree,

but even better

would be the gift

of a prayer said for me!

Material things are bountiful

in a quantity of great measure,

but it is the Things of God,

which above all,

that I most truly treasure!

I enjoy gifts that are fun, practical,

or ridiculously clever!

But, prayers, love, and my family,

are the gifts that I will truly

cherish forever!

(And, a box of Dark Chocolate, too).

If I could glimpse through a child’s eyes

at all the wondrous beauty that they see,

My eyes would drink in so much joy,

and these captivating feasts would satisfy me!

I would see the sun glossing a sugar-pink rose,

      and a turquoise river flowing wild and free;

There would be rainbows on every corner,

with colors, (as an adult), that I shall never see!

If I could glimpse through a child’s eyes,

at all the glorious treasures that they see,

My mind would dream of bedazzling things,

and my lips would speak in poetry!

I could see sparkly purple jewels,

falling through a blue, velvety sky at night,

And I would be able to touch each one,

and then slide down their glittery trail of light!

If I could glimpse through a child’s eyes,

at all the precious magic that they see,

      I would forever be enchanted,

for it would be from my heart that my eyes did spree!

Chocolate! Chocolate! Chocolate! Reminds me of my Oompa Loompa days.

Chocolate! Chocolate! Chocolate! I even eat my salads off of Chocolate trays.

      That's goofy; I just woke up :-)

      Morning Hugs,

      Tamara

I love the message, of course, but chocolate will always be my guilty pleasure and I'm proud to state that. :)

Ms. Dora, you are Spot On with that thought! This is sort of what I was thinking, too. I can give hugs just as well with my mouth empty as if it's full of chocolate. So...why not eat chocolate while I enjoy the more valuable gifts?? I like your way of thinking!

      Loving Hugs,

      Tamara

Sure, Tamara. A taste of chocolate while I treasure the more valuable gifts. Clever!

Tamara, sometimes in Australia we feel that Christmas should be celebrated in the Winter months like it is in the Northern Hemisphere, so we have Christmas in July parties. (We still have our normal Christmas in December as well...just a good excuse to celebrate twice).

Thank you, Jodah:-) Christmas is always a special time to be with family, and if we cannot be with them, it's still a lovely time to think about them. And, those little extra gifts of cookies and fudge along the way are a nice little extra!

      Christmas Hugs, (I'm celebrating early),

Thanks, Flourishing! Your words are true about the nonmaterial gifts, and also about the chocolate:-) Jujubes would be okay on that Christmas List, too.

      Merry June Christmas!

These are nice holiday sentiments. While material gifts are nice, there are nonmaterial gifts that are much more valued. Of course, chocolate is awesome.
