Is Beauty Better Than Brain?

Brain and Beauty

Beauty and Brain are two facets of same reality.Beauty isn't about having a pretty face. It’s about having a pretty mind, pretty heart and pretty soul but without intelligence and innocence its useless.
"Remember that the most beautiful things in the world are the most useless, peacock and lilies for instance,"said John Ruskin. It is better to have brain than beauty, that is not only useful for us but also for society. While physical beauty is purely visual, the beauty of the brain still encompassing. It is,a known fact that "beauty is but skin-deep".Most beautiful people are but superficial, beneath their exterior countenance lies baser quality of jealousy, wickedness, pride and arrogance.
What is worse is that,it is not even lasting, for it declines with age and time. Thus what is at its peak in youth withers out with age,so much so that it is unrecognizable in old age.Contrary to this, our brain and mental faculty improve and grows with age.We become wiser, more experienced and people look up to us for advice and direction.
Another important aspect of brain is that it is all persuasive. It spread its influence over us,in all that we do or say. Thus a person with pleasing mental disposition, could leave a very satisfying influence on the people around him,for along time. This is a sharp contrast to beauty, which by its glamour can razzle dazzle us,but for a moment. No sooner is it out of sight its impact is gone forever. Some beauty also lives in vain unnoticed and unsung,in the words of Thomas Gray,"For many a flower is born to blush unseen. And waste its freshness on the desert air".A noble mind on the other hand brings out the beauty within. Thus we had such a personalities like Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi,Nelson Mandela etc, who could by no stretch of imagination be called beautiful. However, their noble deeds and actions, which were the outcome of a noble mind, would inspire generations.People gratefully cherished them in their hearts forever.
While beauty can but enthrall us for the present, the brains with their inspiration can reach out and influence the lives of countless people profoundly. This is exemplified in the life and travails of Florence Nightingale. She could also have lived a normal life of other girls of her age,but she chose to reach out to the injured and the suffering. The maiden the lamp not only brightened the lives of those she cam in contact with, but she blazed a new trail of nursing profession.
The impact of our brain on our personality is but an acknowledge fact. This is the reason why even at national and international beauty pageants,an effort is made to gauge the intelligence of participants by eliciting response to identical queries
William Shakespeare acknowledge this when he,says,For the sweetest things turn sourest by their deeds,Lilies that fester smell far wore than weeds".This is a sharp contrast to the brain, which inspire us to do noble things. This not only make us happy but also spread happiness around for,"How far that little candle throws her beams. So shines a good deed in a naughty world".

Do you agree that beauty is better than brain?
