Is Writing Worth All your Time?

Updated on April 14, 2018
DDE profile image

Devika enjoys sharing her work with a friendly community. Writing is a big part of her life. Online work has improved her lifestyle.

Writing opens the mind to new experiences

I write on certain days and try to spend time commenting on other hubs.

Writing on line, has allowed me to move on with my life in a foreign country.

Writers learn from each other. It gives one a piece of mind to move on each day from any experience,

I have accomplished such a friendly and worthwhile community here and am pleased to continue writing at Hubpages.

Do you think online writing is worth your time?

To make money from writing it is difficult. No matter how much you try there is that snag, or loophole that keeps you concerned about your income.

All that hard work from getting your work intact and into a perfect manuscript can be tiring and frustrating at the same time.

The marketing and publishing can be most stressful and exciting.

Am I popular?

I think not, and did not intend to be that popular as a writer.

There are many ups and downs and failures in writing. You have to bare that before gaining your stability.

Finally, I got on with my writing and trying to keep up with the daily challenges.

Is writing paying your bills?

Some people write to pay their bills, others write and can't reach that point of paying bills from that income.

Writing can help you with a small earnings.

Also writing can ruin your reputation if you don't pay attention to what you really want from writing itself.

Freelance writing can be a failure to many well-tried writers and this often spoils the chances of other writers.

Spammers are the other problem for online writers.

The problem which many writers are affected by in their daily online writing.

Writers must work hard in standing up for themselves. Self-promotion is crucial.

The well-formatted style of an article does pay to get more views, and shows a better professional side of the writer.

If you build a passive income through your blogs you will find that freelance writing earning is rather slower.

In time you will surely see your earnings increase though some writers don't know how to be patient.

I have learned how to be patient in the writing field and patience and hard work has paid of for me.

Before you take the plunge into writing think about what you actually want from your writing skills.

for example, your main focus on a certain topic.

Do you want to earn from writing or do you want to write for pleasure?

When I first started writing I was in for the money. I learned lots after thorough research on many topics, and from writing online.

The sign of the Internet made my research even simpler to understand.

Thereafter, everything worked out for itself.

I had patience and whatever I earned did make a difference to me. I grew to enjoy writing and got paid for my hard work.

I quit my job not to only earn from online writing. To be self-employed and to avoid working for an abusive boss.

I worked a very difficult seasonal job. The hard times were too much to cope with at that time in my life.

I had no choice but to work that way. Being a foreigner in this country, and place allowed for many obstacles in my new beginnings here.

With no options I worked my hardest.

I quit when I realized I won't be in line for that promotion, no matter how hard I worked at my goals, that did not mean a thing to my boss.

I started online writing to earn a few bucks and to gain my independence. I needed a computer, and a connection to the Internet.

I worked toward my urgent needs and went on from that. I spent hours daily online in trying to find the best writing sites for which to write.

I found many writing sites most were scams. I earn from my kindle published books and from some of my online writing and in all I succeeded.

Since I found Hubpages I have become more improved with my writing skills, and have learned lots more of other writers.

I have become more aware of what I write and how I write. I feel my way of writing is fairly understandable and to the point.

Why am I so interested in Writing?

My life has changed in many ways and writing has given me that opportunity to express my feelings directly.

I feel writing makes me more than a self-employed mother. Writing gave me more to talk about and more of an opportunity to write about my personal experiences.

  • The way one writes is the way one feels.

Be at in it getting to your network of friends and be heard of at all times with your flowing promotion.

Be the active writer and the active promoter.

What do you expect from writing online?

Do you want to be the better writer or are you a good enough writer?

Are you writing badly and writing the hard way?

Some writers just love writing and enjoy what they do, while other hope for a substantial income and a few don't make an income a priority.

You can write what you like once you call yourself a writer. In that way you can gain the confidence you need and the pride in writing for yourself.

Experiment with writing a book, and see how the words come flowing to your mind after each short interval breaks.

A writer writes best when in the moment of a topic.

The subject you are thinking about unravels quickly and easily.

Don't wait for tomorrow to write what you think of today. Dive into writing and see how you improve greatly.

Whenever, I think of a topic , or when someone speaks of a different topic, that gets my attention immediately.

Writing brings you back to life.

Is this a good time to be a writer?

Do you think the free downloading of books is a distraction for people to sit down comfortably and read a book?

I developed a routine in writing, where I start on a blank page without a thought of what to write of, and this works well for me. I sit down and ask to myself.

''What am I going to write about today?''

I approach the daily writing in the same way just like I would with a complete stranger.

It is exciting and shows me I can write a hub without preparing ahead for the following day.

I learned to treat writing as a job and disciplined myself to a routine.

My thoughts are always organized on my subjects, and prefer writing on relationship issues.

I feel free as a bird when I write, and don't think of what needs to be done. My best way of keeping my mind free of any distractions.

Writing allowed me to be more positive, and to be confident with myself when performing daily activities.

Also, in my daily conversations with the people around me.

Writing on line has become an every day chore for many individuals.

When you choose to share your experience with other readers you feel much better.

How do you clear your mind from any bad experience?

You write down what made you feel at your worst.

That changes your moods and releases a load of your chest. I chose to write and share my work honestly or from certain examples.

Writing experiences in peaceful surroundings

Hello RachaelOhalloran so nice of you to read my hubs and I fully understand about conflict as I too feel the same way words back and forth are meaningless to me. I write for pleasure all the changes in my life has given me an opportunity to write and pass my time daily with something to look forward to. Writing to me was not a planned and a big dream of mine my different lifestyle motivated me and most of all my son inspired me. I enjoy reading your work and so appreciate you comments at my hubs take care and have a lovely day.Thank you.

I write because I can. No other reason, just that. I don't expect to make a ton of money. I don't expect to become a big famous name in the book stores. I don't even expect to be a famous name on Hubpages. But I write because I like it, because I am encouraged, because I am uplifted and because I live in a world where a woman can do almost anything she wants to without condemnation or repercussions, and that is the best!

I get to meet people from all over the world. I get to read different styles of writing - essays, poetry, short stories, biographies, opinion pieces - and it all contributes to rounding me out as a person. It is learning. The day we stop learning, we will be dead. The day I stop writing, will be that same day.

I notice you write about relationships a lot and although I do read much of what you publish, I may not have anything to say, but I read them. If I don't agree with someone, I don't comment. If it has all be covered in other people's comments, I don't write anything. Other times I don't comment because I don't want someone to disagree with me where it becomes a war of words back and forth.

I am a very easy going person and don't like to cause friction.

Sometimes I have a comment all written out and then I erase it because it either will hurt someone's feelings or cause someone to write something negative back to me. I hate conflict. lol

So I do write because I can, but I also choose what to write and where, because I can. I don't write permanently for any other site, just testing the waters here and there. I don't care if I make $1.00 or $1 million, I just want to be able to write stuff people like to read.

If anyone has a problem with your writing style, mine or anyone else's, they can click the X and go on to the next hubber. If a comment left for me is negative, that's why I have control over whether to publish them or click DENY button. And sometimes I do click that DENY button.

You asked: Do you want to earn from writing or do you want to write for pleasure? We live in a world where we can have it both ways. I write for pleasure most of the time. Getting someone to pay me for it is not always consistent, but it is also not important to me at my age. As long as I'm having fun doing it and as long as people enjoy what I have t say, that's all that matters.

Thank you for writing this post; it gives the reader a lot to think about when it comes to their choices.

Nice advice here, especially for those writers who are still finding their footing in the industry. I wonder whether one can ever be able to write professionally, like in a 9 to 5 job, and yet enjoy the kind of writing they do? I hope that is not a fallacy and that someday I will be able to do that.

Writing builds the character of a person and makes us stronger. I know that from all of the support I get on HP and the wonderful community that we have, I feel free to let my creativity do the typing.

DDE, it's true, you do have a certain style of writing. It's very enjoyable to read your articles.

Devika, this is another interesting article. I'm pretty sure that a large number of us here on HP, write because we love writing. However, if we happen to make a little money in the process, that's a bonus. Hope you had a great weekend, my best as always.

I see people discuss writing all the time. I'm afraid I am not very structured about how I write. As for the 'why'... I don't really know I have always written things. Well as long as I remember anyway. Finally, any time is a good time for writing, when I was young, now, and later when I'm older will be too!

Another excellent article about your passion for writing which can ,once again, only help others that read it. So glad you mentioned about the friendly community here at hubpages. In my experience you only get help and inspiration from this hub -family, which in turn inspires one to keep on writing. [regardless of earnings}. Voted up,useful interesting.
