Here they are at the boardwalk again:

It is a new month, August, and the boardwalk has less of a crowd because many people’s vacations are over for the summer. About the 3rd of the month, Detective Simpson and Sergeant Wilson wanted to head for the boardwalk and finish their jobs with the 'Secret Kisser'.

When they got there they begin walking up the boardwalk.

Suddenly the Sergeant said, “Hey, I’ve got somthin’”

“When will you learn proper English?” Nancy asked. “You saw him? Where”

“I’m trying to learn it better but I’m from the Bronx. No, I didn't see him. I wanted to grab a frank. I'm hungry”

“It is only 10:00 AM! How can you be hungry? You just ate breakfast and...” “It was an early breakfast at home”, he cut in. “Okay”, she said, “But you had coffee and several doughnuts at the office.”

“Right, I did”, Wilson replied, “And now it’s time for a ‘before lunch’ frank.”

“Oh,..okay” Simpson answered. “Here is a place to buy one.”

While she was sitting at one of the tables waiting for Harry to buy his hot dog; she listened to women gossiping as they passed by.

He returned with his beef frank and sat down across from Detective Simpson. As she watched him squeeze out extra mustard, ketchup and then add salt, “How can you eat that…that…garbage?” she asked him.

“This isn’t trash”, he said, “It’s a Chicago wiener”.

“Anyway”, the detective told him, “While you were 'slopping' that together and in line paying for it, I heard the women gossiping about ‘the Kisser’. It seems that they have not seen him for a while.”

“You think he found out that we have been watching this place?”

“No. I think that it is simpler than that: I believe that, as with the rest of the crowd, he simply left as the summer died down. So I would say for us to check around for a little bit more and then head back to the office.”

They continued strolling along the boardwalk most of the day and listening to the women chit-chat at snack bars, on rides or at the boardwalk games. By late afternoon it was the same thing as that morning – the 'Kisser' seemed to be gone. Being late afternoon they still had time to make it back to the office and write a quick report of the day, since it was not much to report.

They returned to the Detectives car and found out that the Captain had phoned a couple of times while they were on the boardwalk. The Detective immediately dialed him back to find out what he wanted. For all they knew what it may be was to simply grab him something to eat.

The captain picked up his desk line, “Hello”.

“Good afternoon, Captain. It is Detective Nancy Simpson. You phoned earlier?”

“I wondered how it is going today and if there was any news.”

“We started out listening to some women who wondered where he had gone. Then we walked up and down the boardwalk, even went on a few rides, to listen to more ‘gossip’. It seems that he has left for the summer.”

The Captain told them to finish for the day and return to the office. The Detective was telling him that they were already on their way back to do that. In fact it would probably be for the year unless he was seen again. The Captain mentioned putting everything away when they returned.

Back at the office:

Meanwhile back at the office …

“We may as well put the files and notes away, Harry, until next year when we probably see him again.”

You may not see me again,” a voice whispered.

“What Harry?” Nancy asked without looking up.

“I didn’t say anything”, replied Harry.

Then Nancy and Harry were talking about the files and suddenly Nancy again heard that whispering, “I have found someone who agreed to return to my home planet with me.

The Detective looked around the office and did not see anyone or anything.

Curious, the Sergeant asked, “What's the matter? It seems to me that you have lost somebody or something.”

She responded, “Either someone is pulling a prank on me or I have been working too hard.” As she said it, she was lifting everything on her desk and looking under it: Piles of papers, lamps, staplers, even disassembling and reassembling pens…I mean she was searching through everything.

“Either I am working too much or else I need to have dinner,” she said, “We will finish this and go to have a dinner break.”

He grinned and replied, “That’s fine with me!”

They finished organizing the files, stapling them and putting them in the cabinet. Then they cleaned up what was left on the desk and when they were done they told the captain that they would be down in the break room having dinner.

Dinner in the break room:

They walked into the break room and it was almost empty. “At least we do not have to wait in a long line.” She looked at today’s dinner menu to decide what she wanted. She kept in her mind both prices and health. The low prices tonight were between chicken salad wrap with oatmeal cookies and smoked ham sandwich wrap which had French fries on the side with chocolate chips cookies. She chose the chicken wrap with oatmeal cookies and bought a fruit juice. At the table she ate the chicken wrap and then drank the fruit juice while she ate the oatmeal cookies.

He grabbed the ham sandwich with the chocolate chips and a soda, asked for mashed potatoes and grabbed a slaw cup, jelly. Back at the table he ate everything.

She watched him ‘gulp’ it down, shaking her head, because she could not believe it.

He threw the garbage away, came back and stood there saying, “I’m ready. Let’s go.”

“You are just going to gulp it down and jump up to run back?” she asked.

“Sit back down”, he was told, “I am not ready yet.”

“You’re not?”

“No, I am not. I allow my food to digest. That is important.” They just sat and talked for 15 minutes about random things other than work. Then they went back to the office – after she separated her garbage and recyclables and took care of it all.

Times are the same each day. Times are hourly through the day until the next shift takes over. Days go across the top, Sunday-Saturday, and then next roster is handed out.

Back in the office before they go home:

At their desks, they gave them one final go-over and looked to see whether the captain left any work roster on their desks for the next day before they turned off the desk lamps and went home for the day. The next day they had to begin doing something new since they no longer had the “Secret Kisser” to follow and catch.

When Harry read his you heard a moan with a bitter look on his face.

“You look as if you had just swallowed a lemon. What is it?”

“It’s this roster. Did you read yours?”

“Yes I did. It is simply the type of work which we did before we were trying to catch the 'Secret Kisser'”.

“It’s about what we have to do tomorrow.”

"Well at least it is nothing new to us and you are prepared for it."

On another planet - his home planet:

On another planet appeared the 'Secret Kisser' and a woman whom he met on the boardwalk. She had agreed, after a couple of kisses, to return to his planet with him.

"This is my home planet," he told her, "It is named Zutos."

"The spaceship that we flew in is an old ship which they gave me because I am still in a lower class."

"We are on what you call a 'cliff' and out there you can see, what you call a 'city', where I was born. The name was Blix."

She interrupted him to ask, "Will I have a new language to learn?"

"Yes," he responded, "But it will come with time."

Is he gone for good? (Your votes & comments will tell us.)

I had to finish the series, in a nice way, and the reason he was kissing all the women is that he finally found his perfect match. Unless she changes her mind and wants to return to Earth. As you said, it is out of this world.

      Thank you for the compliments.

Have a bright and sunny day. :-)

Well, there's a turn up for the books, Kevin! Interesting slant. That kiss must really be something else if a woman agrees to change planets! Out of this world, eh?

      Entertaining, good light reading.

Thanks for your comments Deb, I guess that it does. He had the choice of allowing himself to be seen or not. Such as at the end when the Detective heard the whisper but did not see anyone.

I have about 6-7 months to ponder over that thought. If he lives to our age and the relationship works out...we will see.

      Have a nice one.

Nice work! This sure explains why nobody could ever see this guy. Now, does he outlive us, and will he need another lady friend eventually?

      I voted up and interesting.

Well I apologize Frank but unless you voted for it I had seemed to be receiving a few negative comments on it previously. Which is why I placed a poll in this Hub, to try and find out what things looks like. The last that I checked it was 50-50, I have to check again.

I appreciate your comments and vote, thanks!

You have a nice day. :-)

Definitely not what I was expecting Kevin, but I know that's what you intended. I'll have to keep an eye out for what the polls deliver.
