Island I return ......Poem I

Updated on February 20, 2014
This photo a gift from a soul mate
This photo a gift from a soul mate

As if in a life outgrown or changes that
consume sameness
saneness
I've chosen to return again to the
smaller of the two
my island
life love laughter
sacrifice
I tried your way
and failed
this island to which I return now
I know every inch
I know every restless step
each yearning day before this
blindfolded
Yet I
unlike everything and everyone
else
don't want your change

And now this moment
bittersweet
my island comes slowly
into view
Ah my old friend
you waited for me
and the rolling surf
the jagged rocks
speak loudly today
as if to say
"we told you so"

Disillusioned, maybe bleeding a little from the rocks, regrets, doubts, as you clamber ashore, but safe now and on solid ground, your ground, stable, familiar, you.

      Welcome home.

It is peaceful for one to have their own Island that only the soul knows and understands. Wonderful thoughts, Ed.

A beautiful poem. We all need an island that we can escape to when the going gets rough.

Beautiful Ed. How wonderful to have an island to return to. Sometimes the steep mountains are just out of reach. Loved this...
