An Unexpected Voice

Updated on February 22, 2017

All the noise can be heard, deep into the deepest caves,

A wave of darkness has polluted the spot where our hearts are encased,

The notion that our approach is better this way,

But a wild fire is spreading, and smoke is obstructing the airway,

I can tell to you with a whisper of compassion,

There is much to do, but I will need your strength to ration,

Words will hurt, hearts will be broken,

Love cures all, that should be our slogan,

Lets put that in motion, and refocus that dedication,

As a nation we are damaged, but must resist further temptation,

Listen to your hearts, and know that they are not far apart,

That voice we all hear whether deep down or from the start,

It's loud enough for all senses, so the answer is clear,

Our heart beats sound the same, no matter what part of the ear.

This is a compelling read. I thought of the turmoil our nation is in and the division among people since the election. Beautiful poetry!
