It's All About the Neighborhood

Updated on September 5, 2018

I'd like to share with you, all my good friends,

The story I've just written about our neighbors.

One of the defining goodness and this proves,

By the showing to each one of our best favors.

The unification of all races, of all fine cultures,

It's to be there, and always, within our reach,

The greatest word ever to be heard, equality,

Is that expression, one that we need to teach.

My friends on the left side are from Old Mexico,

To have been there for more than twelve years.

We've all shared the best of our relationships,

Through our good times and those of our tears.

We like to give all gifts during Christmas time,

And with each one, as all happiness is wished.

The shared meals of our cultural persuasions,

All of such a deliciousness menu to be dished.

Our neighbors on the left side, so have shared,

That of grass cutting, it's most strenuous chores.

Making very sure that no notices or of any fines,

Are ever to be posted on each individual's doors.

The Native American folks live on up the street,

Are always in need of someone's helping hand.

Elderly ones should be cared for, given the best,

And this is very true in our neighborhood's band.

Our good friends who stay further down the lane,

Are each from Asia's finest most peaceful shores.

The time when an elderly man fainted, fell down,

My Helping him up, now it's me, his family adores.

Folks across the street all do know me very well,

As I gave one the warm blanket in Winter's Blast.

Arriving from Burma only to be a few years ago,

And now we have a friendship, one that does last.

Yes, goodwill is alive, is well, and it never has left,

It's so seen when one person gives a helping hand.

And when another one in need helped to their feet,

A free people respect each other, we all understand.

There's not a difference in humankind, beneath a skin,

All have a heart that beats, to feel as though we're kin.

Each brother and sister, are worthy, respect, to expect,

Everyone blessed to be in the world, good lives to begin.

Whonu you reminded us that beneath our skin our hearts are all the same.

It reminded me of the beautiful yet sad Disney film - The Fox and the Hound.

Where the story reveals that no one is born hating one another. It's adults teaching children to hate. It's people teaching people to hate .This is how we learn to hate.
