It's Not Flesh

Updated on March 24, 2012

I’m still waiting
I’m in one spot
Just one long note
Sustained
Looking for something
A place to go
But this one feels right
It seems as if it provides the answers
Maturity
Creativity
Availability
Longevity
Spontaneity
Reliability
I know my spot so well
I can’t imagine any other
I can look back
And see the line
Traced upon experience
It seems as if it provides the needs
A roof
A job
A car
A bed
A breath of fresh air
There is nothing that I want
Or is that a lie?
Can it be that I want something?
Yes
I surely do
But who can give it to me?
Do you even know what it is that I want?
I know what it is
But there is nothing anybody can do
Except make me forget what I want
For a moment
That’s the problem
You cannot compete with what I want
You just can’t
And it’s not fair to you
So that is why I let you go
Because maybe it's you
That someone else wants
Because what I want
Is not flesh
And it never will be again

@Eiddwen _ Thank you again for being so kind.

@AnnaCia - Yes that is what it is about. It concerns removing superficial things from your life.... not being selfish.... easier said than done. Thank you for your nice remark.

This is a very nice poem. I see it as a time to look at elements in life that need to be taken into consideration and see what is really valuable and what is not. Thanks for sharing.

@All of you wonderful people! I think the mystery is the beauty but there are some very specific things in my life that are happening in my life that require a new way of thinking about life; different priorities; different ways of relating to people. I appreciate all the kind words as usual.

Every time I think you've given your best, you beat your own record. Truly awesome. Unfortunately, too true.

Hmm. This one is a puzzle to solve. There isn't a button to click for puzzling. Or intriguing. So I just voted it up while I mull it over.
