Concepts Eternal

Updated on October 19, 2011

I dream of cracked reflections,
and badly-timed demises

I look to the stars some nights,
to sometimes be reminded,
of the beauty He created,
and within it, I’m surrounded,
for a flicker of forever,
a well of dreams springs forth,
my humanity returns,
my inner passion burns,

but then…

my soul constricts again,

I feel the fire again,
I feel the emptiness
I’m going blind again
forgot my name again
I cannot speak again
I feel the crushing weight
the truth, it devastates
the lies I’m told to fight for

I dream of shattered mirrors
and unexpected ends

~~~~~~
Nostalgia is my enemy,
sometimes appearing to remind me
of a time when things were right,
or not quite wrong entirely
Life goes on, remember
this, always and forever,
so the healing process can
begin once more, again
~~~~~~

The only constant is chaos
while the variables flow
through wormholes, created
by the corruption of the soul

I create time out of void
and limitless darkness,
and etch the eternal
into your thought process

~~~~~~
Finally
my vision of us
is fully clouded
with white noise
with static
my wishful thinking
becomes a statistic
so very impossible
I never could reach it
I awake in a sweat
and try to recall
how such things
could ever befall
me within my sleep,
but life isn't fair,
neither are dreams,
and when I awake,
you aren't next to me
I had my one chance
to show you something
that took you so long
to dare let me see,
but the fire is ashes,
the passion has passed us,
the days slipped away,
they fell into dust
and thus fades your face
from the image of us
~~~~~~

May your every wish come true, and be, for me, command
May the power be forever yours, to take or leave my hand
May your lovely smile always stay,
speaking volumes for your heart
May I somehow take your breath away,
so that you wish us not apart

~~~~~~~
Fire streaks arc across horizons of night
The end and beginning have arrived and departed
The atmosphere burns, scorching the Earth,
and the Heavens remember the angel who parted
ways with perfection and threw away glory,
falling from grace, and thus starts our story
~~~~~~~

Who knew their chains could reach me here?
My vacation atop the clouds was cut so short
Tell me, how does it feel to drag me back down
to this indifferent Hell that you call Earth?

Last night, I tried to leave these chains behind
and cut through the bars into the light
Last night, I forgot to remember who I was
before my transition into what I've become

~~~~~~~
Up, then down, I'm high, then I awake to realize, I'm shattered upon the cold concrete. Allow me to bleed all over the ice film that covers your streets. Crush my lungs beneath the weight of your disdain, so that I may no longer be your ailment, your plague. Misinterpret my intentions, and I shall return the favor, just as we were designed. Watch my humanity seep from my broken state, and consume it, to stay alive.
~~~~~~~

We scream to the clouds,
and wish upon stars,
begging for self preservation

We kill for ourselves,
and call it heroics,
so that our good name is upheld

The righteous shall prosper
and justice shall reign
over the dead and the wretched,
so let us all face our fates

Who among you is right
in the eyes of Perfection?
Which of us shall be held
above the the wrath of the Sky?

Atmospheric dissonance,
constructing a storm
at my command

The souls of condemned
bowing in terror
at my right hand

~~~~~~~
Symmetry stands alone in a crooked field of imbalance,
so fixate your eyes upon the only thing that keeps you sane
You cannot pray for change, for it shall go unanswered,
as have, for centuries, the pleading requests of the ordained
Look to the sky, and lift your voice on high, unleash your desires,
so that fire and brimstone may fall and release you from your torment
Summon the wrath of the Gods above, they will heed your beck and call,
for they recognize your determination in blood lust is indeed hellbent
~~~~~~~

And when the music softly fades into a vivid mood, and the rhythm is set into motion, behind those eyes a fire is formed, and inside my mind, an image, a notion, born into completion. Now, only movement, and swing, and swaying between us remains, and our senses will please us.

      This is so deep, Ben. It's a fantastic collection of poetry that is just like multifaceted gem. It sparkles and blinds me and I loose myself within worlds, within time, withing space. Emotions and revelations, it's an endless journey you engage me in with your expressive words... It's just so powerful!

      My words can only diminish your meaning which is timeless and painful to embrace. The loss of love and faith is our common experience.

      Wow you are really prolific Ben! I've read these over several times trying to pick favorites, but they each appeal in different ways. I liked the lines Nelleanna highlighted but also, "Last night, I forgot to remember who I was

      before my transition into what I've become". The whole chains poem reminded me of myself. You've got a lot of Yin Yang going on here. But that is life I suppose. Well done Ben.

      Steph, your description was basically how I feel. I try to simply put the feelings of all humanity into words, though many of them apply to my life specifically.

      It just gets hard to try to show it to others...they rarely seem to relate anymore

      these are not words born of a singel era Nellieanna, these are words born of a personal pain set deep within mirroring the pain of others, yet completely specific to ben himself.

      You know you are a truely gifted writer, ben. and you take the reader by the hand and journey him through your meaning.

      Oh Ben. You write as a spokesman for your era and age, I fear. Powerful stuff, my dear. Powerful. This is especially so:

      "The only constant is chaos

      while the variables flow

      through wormholes, created

      by the corruption of the soul"
