Sad birthday [Poem]

Updated on August 17, 2013

I should be happy today

because it's my birthday,

instead I woke up later

without Love like an heartbreaker

even if I'm not that kind of boy,

I'm just sad, there's no joy;

and now I cannot be happy anymore

because my grandparents aren't here anymore.

I already know it will be worse every year:

slowly I'll lost everyone of my dears.

So what's the meaning of this day?

Just a fake smile, it's all I can say.

      Lorenzo, sadness is a natural response to the loss of loved ones. However, I always think that my late loved ones would want me to be happy--

      (1) happy for the time we spent together

      (2) happy that they are at rest, free from sickness and suffering;

      (3) happy that I have an opportunity to enjoy life some more.

      "So what's the meaning of this day?" Happiness for life and for the talent to express myself in poetry.

      Please get help, if you need to, to enjoy the next 24 years and beyond. Cheers!

      So touching and here's loads of hugs and care from my little corner of the world.

      Writing thankfully can be so therapeutic.

      Take care

      Eddy.

      It's hard to be happy when the heart is heavy, but I hope you found a way to remember that you are very special. I'm sure your grandparents thought so. Happy birthday.
