Musings on Summer

Summer is here

Muggy, lazy days

Sunshine awakens me and beckons,

"Come out side and play!"

I awake slowly, brush my teeth and wash my face,

Grab my morning coffee and go sit out on the porch.

The mountains are beautiful at this time of the morning-

Smoky blue and gray in the distance.

I think, "Wow! What a view! It doesn't get much better than that!"

As I sip my coffee, I notice my surroundings.

There are people walking their dogs.

There are children anxious to play in the small playground next to my apartment.

There are sounds of laughter as people jump into our community pool.

There are people getting into their cars to go to work and college.

So many things are happening and yet, I feel at peace.

I love the warmth of the sun on my skin.

I love the muggy breeze that is wafting my way and they way it ruffles my hair around.

My husband joins me with his cup of coffee looking sleepy eyed.

"What are you doing all alone out here?" he asks.

I tell him I'm enjoying my summer.

He nods and we sit in silence for a little while, taking in our environment.

Then we go in the apartment and get ready to face the day's challenges.
