I was blind_

Updated on February 8, 2013

I pulled back the executioner's hood

and found a mirror staring back

depression came in like a whirlwind

and I didn't even know

until I was in

I couldn't escape

the smell of cigarettes

stale beer

cheap perfume

these memories of betrayal

became my shackles and chain

I was a prisoner

and you weren't ashamed

I was naked

and the whole world just stopped

and laughed, like my life was some kind of a joke

but you silenced the crowd

you stood up for me

helped me get dressed

you even brushed my hair for me

cleaned my cuts

and helped hide

the bruising

Father time grew hands of vine

and I almost stopped breathing

but you saw my pain

and you came

I was starving

for something I did not have

the dessert tray

was always out of reach

and my faith

eventually became a rotting corpse

but then you came

pulled me away from the maggots and flies

you touched my soul with sweet lullaby's

your smile

melted the ice

but it was your warmth

your hands around my body

that made the sun rise

I couldn't swallow the lies anymore

if you've never been there before

you probably don't even care

but some of you know what I mean

some of you

have seen

tasted

the desert sand

when all you wanted

was a helping hand

sometimes life gives you lemons

and that's all it sends

over and over again

when it rains it pours

that's how every chapter begins

confessing my sins

envious

guilty

I just wanted to hear the words

I love you

and that's when you came

called me beautiful

I was thirsty

and you gave me something to drink

and when I was finally able to rise to my feet again

I looked into Your eyes

and saw myself in them

thanks so much Faith... love the name :) yes, some people are starving for things other than food... I think we can give people a cup of love to drink... and a plate of gratitude to eat... or clothe people in forgiveness... appreciate your time and kind words my friend - Love and Light

This is probably the greatest poetic love story ever written , Sir Eric, it reminds me of a foreign language film from Europe because it's so intense, passionate and intimate but then again look at who is writing these words - a gentleman who is teaching a master class in poetry.

Sublime and lovely and straight from your beautiful heart.

Sending you warm wishes with a cup of coffee, the viola da gamba and another sunny day with milder temperatures.

Are we in late March already? lol
