Jade and Mitch

“Was that the last one?” Vicky asked holding a small box

“It was. She kept a few things; the rest is being sold at the estate sale tomorrow night.” Jade replied

The front door shut behind her, locking itself. A small black velvet bag with a red draw string hung from her wrist. Jade loaded the boxes into the back of the U-Haul truck. Aaron and Ryan were inside securing each one.

“How is she?” Aaron asked jumping out of the back of the truck

“She’s taking it one day at a time. The good and bad…” Jade replied

“Just being there for her has been a great help.” Ryan added jumping out of the truck.

He pulled the door down and locked it. They piled into the truck; Ryan put the key into the ignition. Slowly they drove away from Jade H’s house.

“Here’s his address.” Vicky began; she passed a piece of paper to Ryan

“Has anyone seen Talon’s house?” Ryan asked

“Nope…” They all replied

“She has…” Jade commented; “He moved in after they got back together.”

Ten minutes later they turned onto a dirt road. They passed a few farms, at the end stood a large wood cabin.

They all got out, the door unlocked to the back of the truck. Boxes came out and lined up behind Jade. Vicky took the key to the front door out of her back pants pocket. She walked up the three wood steps and unlocked the front door. Jade and the boxes followed, with Ryan and Aaron behind them,

Their jaws almost fell to the floor. Sunlight shined upon the mocha colored walls and oak wood floor. A dark brown leather couch stood to the right, in front of a window with sheer white curtains. On the left was a mahogany shelving unit. A sixty inch television sat in the center shelf with a blue ray player sitting on the shelf below. His movie and book collections were on both sides of the television.

The bedroom was dark from the sun blocking window panel. A queen size bed leaned against the white wall. Its dark wooden headboard had a rose vine pattern carved into it. Mocha colored sheets covered it. The mirrored doors to the closet were open, with clothes hanging on both rods.

“Wow.” Vicky commented

“Let’s finish unloading the truck.” Ryan suggested

It was one o’clock when they finished. Jade left the small velvet bag on the bed. She was the last one out, the door shut behind her. Everyone else was waiting by the truck.

“What was in the bag Jade?” Aaron asked

“I don’t know. She just told me to make sure it was left on the bed.” She replied

“It must be a vampire thing.”

I woke up hearing my cell phone alarm. After shutting it off I got out of bed. My black silk pajama pants unrolled from my knees and fell, covering my feet. I walked into my bathroom, the shower began running as I undressed.

The hot water felt like a breath of fresh air as it hit the top of my head. I reached for the shampoo and began washing my hair. The bar of soap rose into the air and started scrubbing my body. As I got out a black towel flew off the shelf and into my hand.

I began to dry myself off and then put on my black robe; it hung on the back of my bathroom door. I came back into my room, sending my dirty clothes to the hamper. My IPod began to play music as it sat in its docking station, which sat on my dresser. I walked into my closet running my hand over my clothes.

I slipped on a pair of black capris, ‘AFI’ t-shirt, and black combat boots. As I sat down at my vanity, my cell phone rang. It rose off the night table and into my hand.

“Hello Ash.” I began

“Evening Jade, how are you?” He asked

“I’m alright; just taking it one day at a time.”

“I’m glad. Claudette told me the estate sale is tonight.”

“It is. She gave me the name of a former council member who specializes in selling supernatural homes. It should go well.”

“I hope it does.”

“Thank you. Anyway I’d better go; our children need to be fed.”

He laughed “I know they cannot be kept waiting.”

“Bye Ash…”

“Goodbye Jade.”

I hung up and began to put on my make-up. After I finished, I grabbed my keys and purse and went downstairs.

A small pile of mail flew into my hand. My eyes lit up to see an invitation from Max and Alex for the grand opening of ‘Sanctuary’ their safe house. I hung on to the bills and left for work.

The house had become so quiet. It took me a year and a half of sleep; to awake and re-enter the world. Luckily I had slept through a horrid artic like winter and two days of rain storms.

Spring had finally arrived along with the warmer weather. The windows were rolled down while music from my IPod blasted from the speakers. I pulled into the parking lot seeing Dannie getting out of her car.

“Hey sexy mama!” I called

She turned and smiled. She wore a blue and gray plaid short sleeved shirt and blue jeans.

“Hey how are you?” She asked

I got out of my car, locked it and we walked inside together.

“I’m alright. What about you?” I replied

We walked into mine and Jade’s office. I sat at my desk and opened my bills.

“Great; did you get Max’s invitation?”

“I did. I can’t wait to see it!”

I had begun writing out a check as I sensed someone behind me.

“Killian!” I shouted

He came in and I leaped from my chair into his arms. Dannie excused herself as he spun me around and then put me down. I sat back at my desk and finished writing out my check.

“Your sister told me you’d be in tonight.” He commented

“Did she? Did you come to see your product hard at work?” I asked

“I came to see you. I wanted to make sure you were okay.”

I turned to him and smiled, “I’m alright… thank you…” I got up and hugged him and kissed him on the cheek.

“What’s your poison tonight?” I asked

“Captain Morgan and Coke please…”

“Go tell Dannie; it’s on me. I’ll be right out.”

I sealed the last envelope and put them into my purse, I went out to the bar. Killian was talking with Dannie as my apron tied itself around my waist.

“Evening Kiddo…” Drake whispered

He appeared in his usual seat.

“Hey wolf, what can I get you?” I replied

“Ying Ling please…”

A bottle came out of the mini refrigerator and landed on a napkin place in front of him. I started his tab, and then walked to the other side of the bar where Killian sat. He had finished his drink as a sixteen ounce glass slid down to the bar to me. I began filling it with ‘Blue Moon’.

“Another?” I asked

“No thanks; I need to get going, I’ll see you later.” He replied

“Oh okay; see you later.”

He got up and walked out. I turned to see Amber and Trent sitting next to Drake.

“Hi vamp lady!” Amber began

“Hey my little night terror; Trent.” I replied

“Hey Jade…” Trent smiled and bowed his head

“What can I get for you two tonight?” I asked

“Burgers with fries, chocolate milkshake…” She paused and looked at Trent

“A long island iced tea please…” He added

“I’ll put that right in and your drinks will be up soon.”

The blender started mixing Amber’s shake, while a glass came up from a shelf. Two bottles flew off the shelf behind the bar. They poured into the glass along with a spray of coke from our soda gun.

“How are you vamp lady?” Amber asked

“I’m alright; just taking it one day at a time.”

“You’ll feel… good soon…”

“Thanks Amber; your food will be out soon, enjoy your drinks.”

Their drinks slid in front of them. I walked over to the register and started their tab. By last call Dannie and I had cleaned the three sections of couches. I was wiping down the bar when I sensed someone was outside.

“Jade…” Dannie paused

“You’ll be okay to lock up?” I asked

“Go, I’ll be okay, we’ll talk tomorrow.”

My purse and keys flew out of my office. I walked out to see Killian. He was leaning against my car. I walked up to him and he took me into his arms. My head leaned against his shoulder. He wore a blue collared shirt, blue jeans, and brown flip flops.

“I never did thank you for the drink.” He whispered

I laughed and leaned back to look at him.

“What did you have in mind?” I asked

Slowly he leaned in, my eyes closed as I waited. I felt his lips press against mine. I wrapped my arms around his neck playing with his newly cut short hair. He pulled back and I opened my eyes and tilted my head in confusion.

“What’s wrong?” I asked

“I forgot how your kiss sends chills up my spine.” He replied

“Get in…” I whispered

We got into my car and drove back to my house. I felt his hand caressing my thigh.

“Feisty… feisty… feisty are we?”

He kept his hand there the entire ride. We pulled into my driveway, we got out. I took him by the hand, the front door opened and shut behind us as I led him upstairs.

I pushed him onto my bed. In a swift move I straddled him, and took off his shirt. He sat up and began kissing along my jaw and moved down to my neck. His hands slipped underneath my t-shirt and he began massaging my back.

Slowly his hands lifted up my shirt; I raised my hands over my head. He laughed as I sent it right into the hamper. I pushed him back down, he watched as his belt came undone and his fly unzipped.

“Forget how talented I am?” I asked

“Nope… let me show you my talents.” He replied

He sat up and I saw the silver glow in his eyes. His hands gripped my waist as he flipped me onto my back. His lips began placing kisses on my chest, his hands slowly pushed down my black bra straps. I used my powers to unhook it, I don’t think he noticed.

A moan escaped my mouth as he took my left breast into his mouth. My hands pushed his jeans and briefs down. His mouth released my breast and traveled toward my navel. I raised my hips up as he took off my capris and matching underwear.

He put on a condom and entered slowly. Our lips met and I parted his lips with my tongue. His met mine as he grinded against me. Slowly I felt the wind beneath us and we had risen into the air into a small tornado. I flipped him over, lying on top of him. My fangs grew and I bit into his shoulder. He growled and began thrusting faster and faster. We climaxed together and we fell back onto my bed. He hugged me tightly as I watched my bite mark heal.

“Amazing…” I commented

He kissed the top of my head. I gasped feeling his tail brushing against my thigh.

“I’m sorry; it’s something I haven’t quite controlled yet.” He laughed

“Don’t worry about it. It does explain why your horns popped up after making out.” I replied

We laughed as we fell asleep in each other’s arms. I felt him kiss my cheek the next morning. I felt a slight breeze as he left and I drifted off to sleep.

I woke up to hear my sister’s ringtone going off. Slowly I sat up as a pillow rose behind my back.

“Did you have fun last night?” She asked

“I did; thank you I really needed that.” I replied

“He missed you…”

“From what happened last night... a whole lot…”

“How come you didn’t tell me he was…?”

“A wind demon; he never did like talking about it. After we broke up he changed, became more comfortable with himself.”

“So are you two?”

“I’m not sure. Maybe… we’ll see…”

“Good… it’s nice to see you happy.”

“It feels nice… talk to you later…”

“Bye…”

I hung up and got out of bed, heading towards my bathroom. Twenty minutes later, I came back to see Amber sitting on my bed. She wore a red plaid skirt, black t-shirt, and black lace up boots.

“Hey vamp lady!” She smiled

“Hey Amber what are you doing here?” I asked

“Wanted advice…” She paused

“About what?” I replied

“Want to tell Trent… I love him…”

“Oh night terror; are you sure?”

She nodded, her cheeks turned red and she ran her fingers through her pigtails.

“What was it like? Telling Talon?”

I smiled remembering the night; we went back to his house. Like I said, we picked up where we left off.

I followed him back to his house and parked behind him. He appeared at my door and opened it as I got out.

“Thank you.” I smiled

We walked inside and he turned on the lights. My eyes widened at what I saw.

“Talon this is amazing. Has anyone seen your house?” I asked

“Just Ash, Drake, and now you make three.” He replied

He gestured me to sit down, he followed.

“Jade; I want to apologize again for how things ended.” He paused

“I know why you did it. But back then it felt like I was being stabbed in the heart. I was blinded by sadness and anger to see what was really happening.” I replied

He moved closer to me, our eyes met. His hand brushed against my cheek and I nuzzled against his palm. Then I leaned in and kissed him, feeling the spark reignite again.

In one move I took off his shirt and lied down on top of him. He began kissing my neck; his hand reached up and unzipped my dress. I pulled back, stood up and let the dress fall to the floor. My feet slipped out of my ‘Mary Jane’ shoes; he stood up and picked me up bringing me into the bedroom.

We kissed as he stood in front of his bed. I let myself down pinning him to the wall with my powers. As I kneeled before him, his jeans and boxers fell to his feet, I took his hard member into my mouth. Hearing him moan and hiss from pleasure made me smile. He slowly pulled back and I stood up.

In a blink of an eye he tackled me onto his bed. He slipped off my underwear, sat me up and removed my bra. His hands traveled all over my body as he entered me. We moved as one person, I bit into his neck as we climaxed. I lied next to him, my leg draped over his. Then our eyes met again.

“I have something to tell you.” I began

“This sounds oddly familiar.” He chuckled

“I love you Talon. And I’m happy that you’ve come back.”

“I love you too Jade.”

“You’ll know when it’s time.” I commented

“I won’t force...” Amber added

“That’s right. I hope I’ve helped.”

“Thanks vamp lady!”

She got up and hugged me before flashing, leaving me alone again. I walked into my closet and came out dressed in a long purple t-shirt, black leggings and flats.

“Jade… you awake?” Vicky called

I came out of my room to see Vicky walking into the study.

“Hey what’s up?” I asked appearing behind her

Her dark green hair was braided down her back. She wore a white t-shirt, jeans, and sneakers.

“This FedEx envelope was leaning against your front door.” She began

I opened it to see a letter and a check made out to me.

“Dear Ms. Hanson,

Enclosed you will find a check for all the boxed items sold at last evening’s estate sale. There are a few buyers interested in the house, but nothing definite. I will keep you updated and if you have any questions please feel free to call my office.

Mrs. Meredith Thomas”

“What is it?” Vicky asked

“A check from the boxed items sold last night.” I replied

“Anyone interested in buying the house?”

“A few; what else is going on?”

“I got a call from a food blogger. She would like to come by tomorrow night, sample the food and special drinks. Also for the Sanctuary grand opening, its dress to impress; Max called.”

“Excellent; make sure that we’re on tomorrow night. I’m sure she’ll enjoy herself.”

“I’ll pass it along to the girls.”

“Alright thank you so much.”

“Anyway I just wanted to talk to you about that. I have to get going; Aaron and I are going to the movies. You want to join us?”

A strong wind opened my front door. Killian flew in carrying a bouquet of black roses.

“Thanks for the invite; Killian do you want to go to the movies with Vicky and Aaron?” I asked

“Sure; hey Vicky how are you?” He replied

“Great thanks; Aaron is coming straight from work so let’s get going.” She continued

We joined hands and flashed to the movie theater. Killian walked inside to buy tickets for us.

“So you and Killian back together?” Vicky asked nudging me in the arm with her elbow

“I’m not sure. For now I’m enjoying his company.” I replied

“You and your sister sense something?”

“Not sure; if feels like there’s someone else coming to meet me. I don’t know when.”

“Don’t worry I won’t say anything.”

Aaron walked up to us as Killian returned with our tickets.

“Thanks Killian. What do I owe you?” Aaron asked

“No worries; it’s on me.” He replied

“Thank you.”

We walked inside and into the theater. Two hours later we came out laughing. It felt good to laugh, as Killian put his arm around me.

“Man that was hilarious.” Aaron commented

“My sides hurt.” Vicky added

“I hate to cut this short. I need to go feed.” I interrupted feeling my hunger grow

“Enjoy…” Vicky and Aaron waved

I kissed Killian and ran off into the night. I appeared at the park in town. Everything looked so peaceful. I sensed someone close by.

A man in his late forties dressed in a black buttoned shirt and jeans. He had short brown hair and a five o’clock shadow. From what I read in his mind, his wife kicked him out of the house after she caught him cheating; with his receptionist. He also had a gambling problem and had some incidents with the police.

He sat down on a park bench, I came up behind him. I quickly tilted his head to one side and bent down.

“Looking for trouble Jack?” I asked

“This has to be my lucky night.” He replied

“Oh it is your lucky night…just relax...I’ll take good care of you…”

I sank my fangs into his neck and began to feed. Before the last drop could be drunk I stopped and licked the blood off my fangs. I used my powers to snap his neck and then I ran off back home. My eyes lit up to see Killian sitting on my porch.

“Hey…” I began

“Hey how was your meal?” He asked

“Delicious...”

He smiled, I sat down beside him. His hand began massaging the top of my head.

“I wanted to make sure you got home safe.” He commented

“Thanks Killian. You want to come inside?” I replied

“Sure…”

We flashed into my room. He changed into a pair of gray boxer shorts and no shirt. I saw he conjured a change of clothes for tomorrow; sitting on my vanity.

I went into my closet, sent my dirty laundry into the hamper. I came back out in a large black t-shirt. We climbed into bed and he took me into his arms, my head laid on his chest.

The next night I woke up to see Amber sitting at the foot of my bed. She was wearing a short sleeved dark red t-shirt, black skirt and matching flats.

“Morning vamp lady!” She smiled

“Morning… what are you doing here?” I yawned

“Told Trent last night…”

“Oh! How did it go?”

“Trent loves me too!”

She hugged me tightly, that I heard my spine crack.

“Amber I’m so happy. Does Ash know?” I asked

“Ash…happy for me too; gave Trent the talk… don’t know what that means.”

“He told him to take good care of you. If he didn’t we’d be kicking down his door.”

She smiled remembering how we’re protective of each other, in this world.

“Need to get going… Trent taking me to the boardwalk. See you at white tigress’s safe house tomorrow!”

I quickly got out of bed and changed into a black and white plaid skirt, black t-shirt, and my black ‘Mary Jane’ shoes with skull buckles. As I walked out the front door, Drake was leaning against my car.

“So you and the wind demon…must be blowing a lot of hot air.” He commented

“Jealous Drake? Oh, wait, don’t answer that; I already know the answer.” I replied

He didn’t move as I approached my car, pressing the unlock button, deactivating the alarm. His arms opened and we hugged. I used my powers to spin him around; I got into my car and rolled down the window.

“Sorry wolf. I have places to go and people to see.” I smiled and waved as I pulled out of my driveway.

I pulled into the parking lot, got out and walked inside. My ‘sister’ was behind the bar; Vicky and Dannie were taking orders at the couches.

“She’ll be here soon.” Jade commented

“Yeah and everything is ready…” I replied

“Show time…”

The door opened and my eyes lit up to see Killian’s little sister Madison. She stood my height, dirty blond hair, hazel eyes and fair complexion. She wore a pair of black flats, blue jeans, and aqua t-shirt. My sister and I came out from behind the bar to meet her.

“Madison, welcome to the Circle Lounge...” I began

“The only bar serving both humans and supernatural beings of all kinds. We don’t judge by any means and everyone is welcome.” Jade added

“We’re the Jades and fine owners of this awesome place.”

“Thanks for allowing me to come here tonight.” Madison smiled

She sat down at the bar, as Jade and I went behind the bar.

“So can I sample your food and drinks please?” She asked

“Sure.” We replied together

Victor and Marcus came out of the kitchen with two plates. One plate was of appetizers and the other was entrees. Jade and I fixed her a cosmopolitan, strawberry margarita, melon ball, and rum runner. Three hours later she left and was very impressed with everything.

“Great job guys.” I said poking my head into the kitchen

“Thanks Jade.” They replied

As I turned around Drake appeared beside me. He handed me a black rose and kissed me on the cheek. I stood there stunned.

“What was that for?” I asked

“I’m sorry kiddo.” He replied

He flashed and I realized he felt bad about earlier. I sent the rose into our office and went back to working. By two thirty I came home seeing Drake in wolf form, sitting on my porch. He morphed back into human form as I walked up to him.

“What are you doing here?” I asked

“I’m sorry about earlier tonight. “ He replied

“So you come to lounge to apologize and now here…”

“I am jealous. Reminded me of the fun we used to have…”

“I was wondering when you going to admit it.”

“Funny…”

He pulled me into his arms and dipped me into a ‘Hollywood’ kiss. I opened my eyes as he stood me back up. He morphed back into his wolf form, his gray fur shined in the moonlight.

“That was fun… now get out of here.” I laughed

He ran down my drive way as I walked inside. The door locked behind me as I walked into the kitchen. I warmed up a bottle of blood and sat outside on the patio in the backyard. The crickets chirped as the moon rose higher into the sky amongst the numerous stars.

I was starting getting used to being alone. It felt weird not having him around to talk to until the sun came up. I finished my drink, as I picked up on someone close by. Claudette appeared leaping over my fence and walked up to me. She wore a long black strapless dress and black sandals.

“Claudette what are you doing here?” I asked

“I received your delivery. Are you sure you don’t want it?” She replied

“I’m sure; it holds to many memories. It’s better left in the vault.”

“The council knows it hasn’t been easy. We’re here for you if you need anything.”

“Thank you; it means a lot.”

“I apologize if I disturbed you.”

“No it’s ok.”

“Alright, I’ll see you soon.”

She ran off and leaped back over my fence. I still remembered the first time I met the council. He could tell I was nervous, but he held my hand the entire time.

We had driven into town and parked in the parking lot behind the restaurants. I wore my black lace up boots, black pants, and a purple corset top. He wore his combat boots, jeans, and dark gray thermal shirt. We walked towards town hall, but stopped in front of a large gray house. Three steps led up to a white door with a brass diamonded shaped knocker. The windows had white shutters and looked blacked out with curtains.

“Are you sure the council isn’t mad we’re together? You made me…” I asked

“Don’t worry my love. They aren’t angry; they’ve seen this happen before. They are waiting to meet you.” He replied

“Okay…”

He took my hand into his and kissed the top of it. I smiled and we walked up the three steps, he knocked on the door. The door opened and I gasped to see a mortal answer the door. He was twenty, muscular build, shoulder length dirty blond hair that covered his left eye. He wore a black t-shirt, blue jeans, and black biker boots.

“Hey Talon, long time no see man.” He began

He and Talon shook hands and then they turned to me.

“Jade I’d like you to meet Jason Woodberry. Jason this is my girlfriend Jade.” Talon continued

“It’s nice to meet you Jade.” Jason smiled extending his hand

“It’s nice to meet you too.” I replied

From what I read in Jason’s thoughts, he was the personal assistant to Claudette. She had rescued him from a terrible life on the streets. He was sworn to protect her during the daylight hours.

“Come in, everyone is in the living room.”

“Is everyone here?” Talon asked

“Yeah they came early. Some were excited to meet you Jade.” Jason replied

“Really…”

He led us down a dimly lit gray hallway and into the living room. The dark red walls glowed in the light from the recess lights above. There was a large black bookcase leaning against the north wall, with black leather couches on the opposite walls.

Claudette wore a pair of heeled boots, black pants and dark purple buttoned shirt. There was another brunette woman seated next to her, wearing blue jeans and black t-shirt. Two men who looked to be in their late thirties were seated on the other couch. One had dark brown hair, the other blond. Both had blue eyes and wore red and black buttoned shirts with blue jeans.

“Talon welcome to my home.” Claudette began walking up to us

“Thank you for inviting us.” Talon paused; “Claudette this is my fledging and girlfriend Jade. Jade this is Claudette Peters; she is the head of the vampire council.”

“It’s a pleasure to meet you Jade.” Claudette opened her arms

I went in and we hugged tightly.

“Jade would you like to meet the rest of the council?” Claudette asked

“I’d love to.” I replied

“Everyone, may I present Talon’s girlfriend Jade. Jade this is Sandra Walters, and that’s Liam Green and Frank Dino.”

I shook hands with each one of them. Jason had brought in to dining room chairs with off-white cushions and placed them in front of the book shelf. Talon and I sat down facing the council.

“Jade you’re the owner of the Circle Lounge?” Frank asked

“I am; along with my sister Jade.” I replied

“Sister?” Claudette asked

“Before being turned I have telekinetic abilities and I’m a telepath. And after meeting Jade we formed a bond so strong that we finish each other’s sentences.” I continued

“Interesting; I’m sure you know vampire’s blood will boost your powers greatly.” Sandra chimed in

“I do.”

Before dawn we left and returned home. The front door opened and looked behind me, as we went upstairs.

“They really like you.” Talon commented

“I’m glad. I was so nervous.” I replied

“Hard part is over…”

I had taken off my corset and pants, he whistled as I turned to him. A black t-shirt flew out from my closet and I slipped it on. We climbed into bed and he held me close as sleep took over us.

The next night was the grand opening of ‘Sanctuary’. I stood before my mirror wearing a black halter dress with white skulls. I slipped on my black flats, grabbed my purse and walked downstairs.

The front door opened and I saw Dannie and Aiden sitting on my porch.

“Hey you two, are you ready to go?” I asked

“Hey we’re ready.” Dannie replied

We got into my car and pulled out onto the main road. I felt nervous and excited; I didn’t know when my feeling would make sense. We drove towards where Max and Alex lived; passing the street they lived on.

As we came to the end of the road there was a colonial styled house. It was two stories high with a wraparound porch. Lights were turned on in each bedroom.

I pulled into the driveway to see two young tigers running the vale station. Both boys wore black sneakers, blue jeans, and red polo t-shirts. One had short black hair and the other brown.

We got out and saw Sierra and Samantha directing people to walk towards the backyard. Sierra wore a pair of ‘gladiator’ sandals, black shorts, and black tank top underneath a silver vest. Her hair was braided down her back. Samantha wore a black flats, dark blue shorts and silver tank top. Her black hair was tied into a ponytail.

“Hey Jade, Aunt Dannie, and Aiden.” They said together

“Evening ladies…” I smiled

“Go through the house into the backyard.” Samantha continued

“Thanks.” Dannie replied

Samantha opened the white screen door. We walked inside, a large silver circular fixture hung in the center. Its light shined on the oak wood floor that ran from the front door into the living room and kitchen. The white furniture complimented the floor and mocha colored walls.

We walked out onto the back of the porch, there were two white tents standing side by side. Blue table clothes covered the tables. There was a long buffet table with appetizers and drinks on large white tubs on both sides.

“Jade, Dannie, Aiden…” A female voice called

Max and Alex waved; we walked down the four steps and met up with them. Alex wore a pair of blue jeans and white buttoned shirt, she wore a blue sundress.

“Congratulations to you both.” I began

I hugged them both.

“This looks amazing.” Dannie commented

“Thanks.” Alex replied

“Hopefully we can be just as successful as Misty.” Max chimed in

“Go enjoy yourselves.” Alex continued

Dannie and Aiden sat down at a table on the far side of the tent. Dannie grabbed some extra chairs, as my sister and Ryan, Vicky and Aaron, and Amber and Trent. Ash appeared and sat on the other side of Amber.

I sat next to my sister. She wore a pink sundress and black sandals.

“You seem much calmer than earlier.” Her voice echoed in my head

“Very funny… at least the feeling is making sense.” I replied

“True…does Killian know?”

“No, he knew I didn’t want to get back together.”

“Where you going?” Amber asked seeing Ash get up

“I’ll be back.” He replied picking up his cell phone

“She doesn’t stop…” Amber growled

“Small emergencies turned into big ones?” Dannie asked

“I don’t know; every other week… he visits…”

“Did he ever tell you why?” I asked

“No…he doesn’t tell me much.”

“Hey look Max and Alex are making a speech.” My sister interrupted

Alex and Max stood in the center of the tent along with Sierra and Samantha.

“We’d like to thank everyone for coming. We hope that this place can be a home for some or others just passing through. Please enjoy…” Max began

Everyone applauded and continued to eat and talk. Sierra walked over to our table and placed a bottle of synthetic blood in front of me.

“We thought you might be hungry.” She whispered

“Thank you.” I replied

I took sip and felt better, since my hunger was beginning to rise. An hour later, I was talking with Max and Melody who showed up late with Hunter.

“This looks great Max.” I commented

“Thank you Jade.” Max replied; “We have some boarders coming tomorrow.”

“What about your house?” I asked

“We’ll still live there. I’m in the process of hiring someone to live here and keep an eye on everyone if we’re not here.”

“Misty must have been so excited to hear about this.” Melody continued

“She definitely was.” Max smiled

I couldn’t help but tune them out, seeing Alex talking with someone. He was shorter than Alex, shaved head, and hazel eyes. He was semi-muscular and wore a black polo shirt, blue jeans, and black shoes.

“Who’s that?” I asked

“That’s one of Alex’s best friends, Mitch. He drove up from Virginia to visit and see us.” Max replied

“C’mon let’s introduce you.” Melody suggested looping her arm though mine

Her purple hair was tied into a half ponytail. She wore a blue tank top and long white skirt.

“Hey boys what’s up?” Melody began

“Hey Mel; we’re just catching up.” Alex replied

“Mitch it’s been a long time.” Melody continued

“Hey Mel, how have you been?” Mitch asked

“Great. Mitch this my friend Jade. Jade this is Alex’s best friend Mitch.”

“Nice to meet you Jade.” He smiled and extended his hand

“You too…” I replied

We shook hands and I suddenly didn’t feel nervous. I suddenly felt calm and comfortable around him. “He must be that someone… I was going to meet.” I thought to myself.

“So how long have you known Alex?” I asked

“Since college; we were suitemates all four years.” Mitch replied; “What about you?”

“Not long; I met him three years ago. I’ve known Max and Melody for about four years.” I replied

“That’s cool, wait; you’re the Jade who helped them get settled here in town?”

“I am; along with my sister Jade.”

“Sister?”

“We’re both telepaths with telekinetic abilities. We share a bond just like sisters.”

“Very cool. Want to take a walk?”

“Sure…”

We walked around up front and began walking down the street.

“Alex tells me you’re the owner of the famous Circle Lounge.” He commented

“I am; Jade and I opened that place together, serving the supernatural and mortal communities.” I replied

“While I’m in town I’ll definitely have to stop by. Max and Alex can’t stop raving about it.”

“I’d like that.” I paused; “So what do you do for a j-o-b?”

“I’m a state trooper in Virginia.”

“I was always a sucker for a man in a uniform.”

We laughed, as I brushed my hair behind my ear.

“It must be interesting serving the supernatural community.” He continued

“Some yes; others no so much; we’re still human.” I replied

“I’m sorry if I offended you.”

“Don’t worry about it. I know what you meant.”

“You’re sure?”

I nodded and he smiled. We stopped at the end of the block, turned back heading towards the house. As we came into the backyard, the party was still going on.

“I don’t think anyone realized we left.” He commented

“Just my sister; she just knows to keep her big mouth shut.”

“That strong?”

“Yeah it’s really strong.”

“Cool.”

Samantha walked up to me, handing me another bottle of blood

“Thank you tigress.” I grinned

As I took a sip, Mitch stared at me looking very surprised.

“You’re a vampire?” He asked

“I am… you’re not scared are you?” I replied raising an eyebrow

“No, I was under the belief that a vampire’s mind couldn’t be read.”

“It can’t, but I was born with my telepathic and telekinetic abilities. I was turned five years ago.”

“Oh…”

I smiled and took another sip of my drink. His thoughts were so scattered, I had to get out of his head. Dannie walked up to us with Aiden right behind her.

“I hate to interrupt; we’re starting a game of Cards of Humanity. Do you want to play?” She asked

“I’m in! It’s becoming my favorite game.” I replied

“Mine too… bring it on woman!” Mitch chimed in

“You’re on man!”

By two in the morning, I hugged Mitch goodbye. Everyone was leaving; Dannie, Aiden, and I got into my car and drove off.

“Looks like you and Mitch were really hitting it off.” Dannie commented

“Yeah he’s really nice.” I replied

“I’ll say this; it’s nice to see you smile again.” Aiden chimed in

“Thanks guys.”

I pulled up my driveway; we all got out, said goodbye. Dannie and Aiden morphed and ran home. I walked inside and went up into my room. I heard my phone go off; it was a text message from Mitch.

“Hey Jade. I just wanted to let you know I got back to my hotel. I got your number from Max.”

I couldn't help, but smile. “I’m glad you got back safely. Stop by the lounge sometime…” I typed back.

After changing into a pair of purple boxer shorts and went back downstairs and onto my patio. I sensed someone close by.

“Hey Ash.” I called

“Hello Jade.” He replied appearing beside me

We sat down at the black mesh metal table across from each other.

“Amber is getting concerned about you. I know you don’t like to share a lot, but she loves you and worries.” I commented

“I know she gets concerned, but some things are better left a secret.” He replied

“That’s fine with me and everyone else. She’s a daughter to you and sometimes she just needs to be reassured that you’re alright.”

“Point taken…”

“Good. But why did you really come here?”

“I came here because it seems you’re getting close to Mitch.”

“It’s that obvious huh?”

“Sometimes you read like a book Jade….”

I laughed; “I know he’s mortal; and I’m not sure where this is going to go.”

“You’ll know when the time comes.”

“I've never doubted my powers.”

We talked right before sunrise. I climbed into bed and fell asleep.

I woke up to my sister’s ringtone. My hand reached out from by blankets and took the phone from its charger.

“Hey everything ok? You usually don’t call unless…” I paused

“Can you cover my shift tonight? I have a doctor’s appointment.”

“I can; no problem. So when were you planning on telling everyone?”

“After my appointment… I know you won’t…”

“Say a word, unless you tell me otherwise.”

“Thanks so much.”

“Keep me posted.”

“I will.”

I got out of bed, and then called Vicky who was opening.

“Hey what’s up boss?” She asked

“Hey; just wanted to let you know I’ll be covering my sister’s shift this evening. I should be there in twenty.” I began

“Oh, is something wrong?”

“No, she has a doctor’s appointment.”

“Cool; I’ll see you in soon.”

We hung up and I went into my closet. I changed into a pair of black shorts and my ‘Simply Meant to be’ t-shirt. I put on my favorite pair of converse sneakers and headed out the door. The door opened and I saw Drake, in wolf form, lying on the porch.

“What are you doing here?” I asked

He got up and walked up to me. Slowly he shifted back, wearing black sneakers, blue jeans, and black t-shirt. He took me into his arms and hugged me, but then leaned me back and kissed me. The feelings I had for him, rose up. I pushed back and looked at him, tilting my head to one side.

“I wanted one last night.” He whispered

“Sorry wolf; I’m done with being a booty call.” I replied

I used my powers to raise him into the air, out of my way.

“Jade! C’mon let me down!” He shouted

“Oh is the little wolf afraid of heights?” I asked giving him a big grin

“Jade…”

I got into my car, as I pulled out of my driveway, I listened for the thud. I laughed as I watched him run in the opposite direction. As I walked into the lounge, business looked pretty steady, Vicky was behind the bar starting a tab.

“Hey right on time boss.” She commented; “Why do you smell like Drake?”

“Damn it… he showed up at my house… for you know. I turned him down.”

I went into mine and Jade’s office, the bottom drawer of my filing cabinet opened. A bottle of ‘Axe for her’ came out and sprayed me from head to toe. I came back out and Vicky nodded in approval.

“He’ll never learn will he?”

“Nope…” I laughed

Amber appeared sitting at the bar, wearing a ‘peasant’ styled dress and black flats. She was sucking on a red lollipop.

“Hey Amber, what’s up?” I asked

“Bored… Ash is with Mother… Trent not getting out of work for another hour...” She sighed

“Did he tell you why he visits with her so often?” Vicky asked

“No; but have feeling he feeds off her love energy.”

“He does what?” We asked together

“Not sure… but mother thinks it like vampire blood… boosts powers.” She continued

“Wow; must be addicting.” Vicky commented

Amber didn’t answer, but I sensed she was worried about him. But then she took my hand into hers and began rubbing my palm with her thumb.

“Saw you getting close with mortal friend of white tigress.” She asked

“Yeah; it was refreshing to meet someone new. I don’t know how long he’s staying in town, but I’ll make the most of it.” I replied

“Good… powers might be bound… have good feeling about him.”

She winked and I smiled, as the blender got loaded up with chocolate ice cream and milk. It began mixing; I went and started her tab. Melody walked in and took a seat at the bar. Her hair was tied back with a clip, while she wore a pair of black shorts and pink t-shirt.

“Hey Mel what can I get for you?” I asked placing a napkin in front of her

“Angry Orchard to drink and buffalo wings please.” She replied

“Everything okay? You don’t seem like your cheerful self.”

“I’m worried. Hunter has become distant and I feel his mind is elsewhere.”

“Oh wow; when did this happen?”

“Last week; He seemed alright at the party, but I don’t know.”

“If you need anything, like a distraction we’re all here for you.”

“Thanks girls.”

I put her order in, as a bottle of ‘Angry Orchard’ came out of the refrigerator. It opened and she began drinking. From what I sensed, she usually didn’t worry, but Hunter has been preoccupied with something. The shake poured into a tall glass and a straw landed in it and slid down to Amber.

After putting in her food order, I felt a chill up my spine. I felt a smile upon my face and turned to Melody.

“You’ll get your answer tomorrow. Don’t worry…” I commented

An hour later, Trent and Amber left to go see a movie. I was cleaning the bar, as mugs and glasses loaded into the dishwasher. Melody left feeling some relief, but she’d feel better once she got answers. Vicky had come out of the kitchen with a tray of fries as Aaron came in with a teenage boy. He was dressed in a white t-shirt, black cargo shorts, and black flip flops. A large red backpack hung over his shoulders, as a black baseball cap covered his short brown hair.

My eyes met a pair of green ones, as Aaron walked up to the bar. He gestured the boy to sit down, as I placed two napkins in front of them.

“Hey Aaron, who is your friend?” I asked

“Hey Jade. I’d like you to meet Jake. He’s new in town and on his way to Sanctuary. I saw him walking from the bus stop and brought him here.” Aaron replied

“Hi Jake; I’m Jade and I’d like to welcome you to the Circle Lounge; serving both the mortal and supernatural communities, we don’t judge and let me call Max. I’m sure she’ll come and pick you up here. Would you like anything to eat?” I continued and handed him a menu

“Buffalo wings please and a coke to drink.” He said

“No problem; Aaron the usual?” I asked

“Sure.”

Vicky walked over to him and kissed him on the cheek. She introduced herself to Jake as I went into my office to grab my cell phone. I dialed Max’s number and waited as it began to ring.

“Hey Jade what’s up?” She asked

“Aaron brought in a new boarder. He’s a fire fairy, though maintains human ears.” I replied

“Wow. I will be over to pick him up. It sounds like he hasn’t come into his powers yet.”

“Maybe. I’ll see you soon.”

“Alright; thank Aaron for me and thank you Jade.”

“It’s no problem.”

I came back out to see Aaron and Jake were talking. Vicky was taking two glasses of ‘Blue Moon’ with oranges hanging on the glass to the first section of couches. I went behind the bar and stopped in front of the boys.

“Jake, my friend Max, is the owner of Sanctuary. She’s on her way to come pick you up and take you to the safe house.” I began

“Cool.” Jake smiled

One kitchen door opened as two plates came out. One had Jake’s wings with some French fries, the other had Aaron’s crispy chicken sandwich.

“Enjoy boys.” I commented

“How did you do that?” Jake asked; “I mean I know you’re a vampire, but I never met one with telekinetic powers.”

“I was turned five years ago. I was mortal with my telekinetic abilities, plus I’m a telepath.” I replied

“Cool. The blood must boost your powers.”

“It does; especially when I need to defend myself. Enjoy your food and holler if you need anything.”

An hour later Max arrived, she and introduced herself to Jake. As they left Mitch walked in and took a seat at the end of the bar. I walked over and placed a napkin in front of him and handed him a menu.

“Welcome to the Circle Lounge; serving the mortal and supernatural communities, no one judges, and some find a second home. What can I get for you?” I asked

“How about a date?” He replied

“That can be arranged.”

“What time do you get off, my fine lady?”

“Two in the morning. Are you up for it?”

“Sure; I’ll be back.”

“Alright…”

He took my hand into his and kissed it. Then he left and I stood there stunned, but snapped out of it and went back to work.

“Someone’s got a date…” She commented

“Yeah… Yeah I do…” I replied

By last call I was amazed he showed up, just as I said goodbye to Vicky. He walked inside and took a seat in the first section of couches.

“I hope you’re hungry.” I commented as I walked into the kitchen

“Starving…” He replied

I came back out with a basket of wings with fries, along with a bottle of blood for me. A ‘Ying Ling’ came out of the fridge and opened. It landed in front of him as I sat down.

“Cheers…” I whispered

He held up his beer and we ‘clanked’ our bottles together. He began eating and nodded in approval of the ‘wolves’’ buffalo sauce.

“So how was work?” He asked

“It was pretty steady; Max got her first boarder.” I replied

“That’s cool. I’m sure a lot of supernatural beings will be happy to find a place to stay.”

“Yeah. Sanctuary is neutral ground, kind of like here.”

“There are still states that aren’t accepting?”

“Yeah; here and at Sanctuary we don’t judge and treat others with respect despite differences.”

“So how long have you been dressing in the Gothic fashion?”

“Six years; I don’t like to talk much about my past.”

“I’m sorry if I’m interrogating you. You’re the first vampire I’ve met and I’m really curious.”

“Yeah I can tell…”

I tapped on my head and he laughed. I noticed he finished his food and his plate rose into the air and flew into the kitchen.

“Would you like some more?”

“No thanks. Who is that?”

I looked outside and saw Claudette with Sandra. I excused myself and went outside.

“Evening ladies what’s up?” I asked

“We’ve noticed you’re getting close with him.” Claudette replied

“It’s refreshing actually. For once I feel genially happy, but that’s not why you’re here.” I replied

“The council is concerned about you dating a mortal.” Sandra blurted out

I stared at them with a shocked expression on my face.

“You really think I would expose our kind’s secrets to him?” I asked

“We know you wouldn’t, but he seems so eager and curious.” Claudette replied

“Believe me, I can read his mind. His thoughts are about getting to know me better. You know me, as a person and not as a supernatural being. If he thought otherwise I would have taken care of it myself.” I continued

“All we ask is that you be careful. We don’t wish to cause any problems.” Sandra reassured me

“Fine, now if you will excuse me; my date is waiting for me.”

I turned and went back inside; as I sat down I sighed and buried my head into my hands.

“Who were those women?” He asked sitting beside me

“Those were two members of the vampire council. It’s a long story.”

“Oh one of those stories.”

I nodded, “I’m sorry for the interruptions.” I felt him put his arm around me and then he hugged me. At that point I couldn’t think of anything else to say. I leaned back and our eyes met, slowly he leaned in and pressed his lips against mine. His tongue parted my lips and mine began to get tangled with his.

He laid me down on the couch and started kissing my neck. I felt my fangs extend as I stared up at the ceiling. In one move I pushed him down and took off his shirt, I placed kisses on his neck and shoulder. He growled as I bit into his neck, I slowly licked up his blood. Our lips met again, but then he stopped and I slowly opened my eyes.

“What’s wrong?” I asked

“My place or yours?” He replied

“Mine; I have curtains that block out the sunlight.”

He put his shirt back on and I took him by the hand. We got into my car and I pulled out of the parking lot and onto the main road. He looked over at me with a questioning look on his face.

“Don’t worry about your car; I’ll have it sent over to my house.” I replied

“With magic?” He asked

I nodded and he watched as my cell phone came out of my bag. It slid into the mount that hooked into the air conditioning vent. It connected to the Bluetooth in my car and dialed Amber’s number.

“Hey vamp lady! What’s up?” She asked

“Hey my little night terror. Could you do me a small favor?” I replied

“Shoot…”

“Could you flash a Honda S.U.V from the lounge to my house?”

“No problem; it will be there.”

“Thank you.”

“Welcome!”

I hung up and as we pulled into my driveway he looked at me with amazement. His car had appeared parked in front of my house.

“So Amber is a witch?” He asked

“She’s a demon.” I replied; “C’mon inside.”

I took him by the hand, I moved so quickly, the front door shut behind us. I led him into my room and pushed him onto the bed. He took off my shirt and began unzipping my pants, I gasped as his fingers entered me. I grinded against his thrusts, as our lips met again.

He pulled me on top of him, pushing my pants and panties down. With one pulling motion with my hand, I took his pants and boxer shorts off. I took his member into my hand and slowly stroked him. He groaned as I took him into my mouth. I stopped and he flipped me onto my back, he put on a condom and gradually entered me.

I felt as if nothing else existed, except my room and bed. With each thrust I arched my back, meeting him every time. I pulled him closer to me, and bit into his shoulder again. He growled as I licked the small wound I made. We climaxed together and he fell on top of me, I felt his heart beating so fast.

“That was amazing.” He whispered

“Totally amazing…” I paused; “Want to join me for a hot shower?”

“Lead the way sexy lady…”

We both got up and walked out of my room. I fell asleep with his arms wrapped around me by dawn. I sensed he woke up around noon. He kissed my neck and I turned over to see him dressed.

“Where are you off to?” I asked

“I’m meeting Alex at Sanctuary. He’s buying a security system and would like some expert advice.” He replied with a smirk

“Well officer, I would hate to keep you from your appointment. I’ll see you later.”

He leaned down and kissed me, I felt a shock run throughout my body. I hadn’t felt it in a long time, as I watched him leave, I fell back to sleep. By sunset I awoke feeling as if I was back on ‘Cloud nine’ once again.

My cell phone began to ring; I reached over to see Ash was calling.

“Hello Ash.” I began

“Jade… is everything ok?” He asked

“I’m great Ash. What’s wrong?” I replied

“Claudette just called me. The council is concerned about you dating a mortal, but I thought they didn’t have anything against mortals.”

“There must be something he isn’t telling me.”

“Could there be?”

“It’s the only explanation. Because they were very excepting that Talon was dating me. Ash I better go.”

“Be careful Jade.”

“I will.”

I got out of bed; the doubt suddenly began to build within me. Questions started to arise, as I walked into my closet. I ran my fingers over my clothes, but stopped.

“Talon… what should I do?” I asked aloud; “I know you wanted me to be happy. What could the council have against him?”

“Follow your instincts my love…You’ve never doubted them before.” Talon’s voice echoed

“That’s right…”

I changed into a short leave dark red corset dress. My feet slipped into my favorite pair of black ‘Mary Jane’s’ with skull buckles. As I sat down at my vanity I put on some make-up and brushed my hair, tying it into a long braid. Once I finished I went downstairs and went into my study and saw my sister sitting at my desk.

“I was wondering when you were going to show up.” I commented

“I knew you needed me. Besides me… Amber come on in.” Jade replied

“Sisters! What did you need?” Amber asked flashing into the room

She wore a pair of jean shorts and black t-shirt with flip flops.

“We need you to flash us to Mitch’s hotel room. You have to keep us invisible; we need to read his thoughts.” I began

“Why? Vamp lady afraid of mortal?”

“No; the vampire council is concerned with my sister dating a mortal. There has to be something more to this story.” Jade continued

“Ok… join hands please.”

We joined hands and flashed into Mitch’s hotel room. He was lying in bed watching T.V. My sister and I joined hands; slowly we were able to read his thoughts. We read some usual thoughts, but then we turned to each other.

“His mother was a vampire. She hid it well and didn’t tell him.” I began

“No wonder he’s so curious. But he also saw her die and that’s why he became a state trooper.” Jade added

“Maybe that’s what Claudette and Sandra sensed…”

“About him…”

“Let’s go…”

Amber nodded and we flashed back to my house. I began pacing back and forth, now I knew the truth. Though I doubted he would ever tell me. Jade grabbed me by the hand and we sat down on the couch.

“Now what?” Amber asked

“Don’t know…” Jade and I replied together

“At least I can explain to the council they have nothing to worry about.” I continued

“I think it would be better…” Jade paused

“Coming directly from him…” I finished my sister’s sentence

“Great plan…” Amber commented

“So are you ready to make your announcement?” I asked

“I am; Ryan and I invited everyone to meet at Harper’s Lake. We’d better get going.” Jade replied

“This sounds important… better change…” Amber interrupted

She snapped her fingers and changed into a dark blue sundress and silver ‘gladiator’ sandals. We flashed to Harper’s Lake. Dannie and Vicky had laid out large blankets and put a picnic basket on each one.

“Hey we were wondering when you were going to show up.” Dannie began

“Everyone should be here soon.” Vicky added

I excused myself walked over to the lake and leaped up into a tree. It was still a little shock to me that Mitch’s mother was a vampire and hid it from her own son. Soon everyone else started to arrive and I leaped down to join everyone.

I sat with Aiden and Dannie, along with my sister and Ryan. Amber and Trent sat on the blanket next to us, and I noticed Alex and Max arrived with Mitch. I felt a little nervous, but decided to focus on my sister and Ryan. They had gotten up and stood in front of everyone.

“Thank you all for coming tonight.” Ryan began

“We couldn’t think of anyone else to share this new with; than with close friends who we consider our family. So without any further delay… everyone I’m pregnant!”

Everyone applauded and got up to congratulate the soon to be parents. I hugged my sister tightly and then Ryan. As I made my way out of the crowd, Mitch came up to me.

“Hey beautiful…” He began

“Hey you…” I replied

We hugged and then I lead him away from the crowd.

“What’s up?” He asked

“The vampire council has become concerned about you and me dating. And I know why they suddenly became protective, not only of themselves, but of me.” I paused

“Why Jade?”

I took a deep breath “Because I know your mother was a vampire. She concealed it so well and didn’t tell you. I also know you witnessed her death and that sparked your passion to become a trooper.”

He stood there speechless and I felt as if I had used dynamite to blow up the gates to a damn. I didn’t try to comfort him, I sensed his shock. The silence continued and then he walked away, got into his car and drove off. I returned to everyone else who was enjoying sandwiches, beer and twisted iced tea. A bottle of blood floated into my hand and I began to drink.

“You told him?” Jade asked walking up to me

“I did. Now we….” I paused

“Wait until he can get his thoughts straight.” She finished my sentence

“So would you like a…”

“Baby shower? Yeah, could we do it at your house? Plus I want to keep it simple, just the girls.”

“Of course…”

I leaned my head upon her shoulder and we stood staring at the lake. After everyone left, I leaped up into the tree and sat upon the large branch. I sat and watched as the moon’s reflection appeared on the water’s surface, it looked beautiful.

“What are you still doing here?” Ash asked as he flashed sitting next to me

“You probably know already…” I sighed

“For once wifey I don’t.” He replied with a smirk

I laughed, “The council was getting concerned about me dating Mitch, since he’s a mortal. I know there isn’t any law prohibiting it, but Claudette and Sandra sensed something. My curiosity got the better of me, I called Jade and Amber. We flashed to Mitch’s hotel room, we read his mind. His mother was a mortal and concealed it so well from him. The worst part, he witnessed her death, which lead him to becoming a state trooper.”

“That would explain Claudette blowing up my phone. Though what do you think?”

“I think if I bring him before the council and explain; they’d understand he’s not a threat to me or our kind. But now I’m not sure if he’s coming back.”

“You and your sister will know soon. Don’t doubt your instincts.”

“I haven’t before and I’m not going to stop now.”

He hugged me goodbye and flashed leaving me to sit for a little longer. I left before the sun came up, I immediately went into my closet I changed into a long black nightgown. I crawled into bed and buried myself in my blankets.

By the next night I awoke to hear my cell phone ringing. It unplugged itself from its charger and flew under my blankets.

“Hello…” I whispered

“Hey Jade… did I wake you?” Dannie asked

“No I just woke up. What’s up?”

“I heard what happened yesterday and wanted to make sure you were ok.”

“I’m alright.”

“You sure?”

“I am…”

She told me to call if I needed anything. I got up as a long black skirt and matching tank top came out of my closet.

Two weeks past and Mitch never called or texted. I arrived at the lounge to meet with Jade to hire a new bartender, to help out when my sister went on maternity leave. There was a line of ten people waiting outside as I got out of my car.

The skirt of my long black tube top dress covered my black sandals. People applauded as I walked past them and inside. Jade was sitting in the first section of couches, along with Dannie and Vicky.

“Hey girls looks we have a lot of candidates outside.” I commented

“All wanting to fill my shoes.” Jade added

“That will be…” I paused

“Difficult… I know… since we’re so…” Jade finished my sentence

“In sync with each other. Vicky please let our first candidate in.” I laughed

“Right boss…”

She got up and opened the door. We were a little surprised to see Dannie’s sister Alyssa walk in and sit on the couch across from us.

“Alyssa Cortez. Welcome to the Circle lounge, now do you have any bartender experience?” Jade asked

“I do. Before becoming the front desk manager, I bartended in the bar attached to the hotel.” Alyssa replied

“So why don’t you show us your talents.” Vicky suggested

She got up and walked over to the bar. We got up and walked over and sat down at the bar. She grabbed some bottles and began measuring. We watched as she prepared a watermelon martini. She began shaking her mixture and then took out two martini glasses. After she finished Vicky and Dannie tasted her finished product.

“It’s sweet and balanced.” Vicky commented

“I agree.” Dannie added

“She definitely knows her drinks…” I commented

“There are a few more I want to audition…” Jade replied

“Before we all make the final decision.” I finished my sister’s sentence

An hour later we had narrowed it down to two candidates, Alyssa and a were-panther named Michelle. Michelle was a little taller than Alyssa, muscular build, tan, brown eyes and hair. She was friends with Melody and came highly recommended.

We had excused ourselves and went into our office to make a decision. As we came back the girls looked so nervous.

“This definitely has been a tough decision. Both of you have shown you have great talent.” I began

“After much deliberation, we have decided…” Jade paused

“To take you both!” We all said together

“Welcome to the Circle Lounge ladies….” I continued

“Vicky will get your personal information. We like to keep in contact with each other, in case of shift changes or special events.” Jade added

I went out into the back and stared up at the sky. I was a little worried about Mitch; some days it felt like everything moved so slowly. This was compared to the days when I’d be so busy, other things occupied my mind. My phone appeared in my hand and I stared at it, but then I decided to call him. After the fourth ring, it went to voicemail.

“Hey Mitch; I know I’m probably the last person you want to talk to. I understand, but I just wanted to make sure you were alright. And I might have an idea if you’re willing; to prove to the council you’re not a threat. I hope to talk soon.” I began and hung up

As I came in Michelle and Alyssa had left, Dannie, Jade, and Vicky were sitting in our section of couches.

“Is Alyssa going to leave the hotel?” I asked

“No, she’s going to work out a schedule with them.” Dannie replied

“She needs…” Jade paused

“The extra money…” I finished my sister’s sentence;

“I’m going to put them on the new schedule. This way they get a feel for what they’re in for.” Vicky continued

“Good idea.” Jade I said together

“So who’s up for a girl’s night at my house?” I asked

We closed up early and headed back to my house for a girl’s night in. We sat in my study listening to music and chatting. By midnight, they left and I sat on my porch. The cool air felt refreshing, but then I sensed someone close by. My eyes lit up to see Mitch’s car pulling up front. He got out and I got up and we met at the steps. At first we just stood staring at each other, but then he walked up to me. I took a step back as he opened his arms.

I took him into my arms and hugged him tightly. He leaned in and kissed my lips gently, but then I pushed back. I turned and started walking towards the front door which was opening.

“Wait…” He said breaking the silence

I slowly turned, standing in my doorway. He walked up to me and took me back into his arms.

“She told me that she was immortal before she died. It didn’t make sense at first, because I was too young to understand. As I got older, it made sense since she worked nights and slept all day. I’m so sorry I pushed you away.” He whispered into my ear

“I knew your mind was scrambled with thoughts. So I decided to give you space and not try to get you to talk about it. And here I thought this was goodbye.” I replied

“It’s not goodbye… my fine lady. It’s hello all over again.”

He picked me up, and carried me upstairs. The door shut and locked as he brought me into my room. He laid me down on my bed and lied next to me; I pulled him on top of me as our lips met. I pulled his blue shirt over his head; he began pulling off my dress. Once my feet slipped out, I sent it to my hamper.

We sat up and I wrapped my legs around his waist. I felt his hands unclipping my strapless bra, he tossed it on the floor, I sent it back into my closet; I don’t think he noticed. I began to unbutton and unzip his fly, as he came back on top of me. He began kissing and licking my neck, as I pushed his pants and boxer shorts off. After he put a condom on we sat up, as he entered me. My arms wrapped around his neck, as he began kissing my breasts.

I met each thrust, and then I leaned down and bit into his shoulder. He growled as I began to lick up the blood. His speed increased as we climaxed together. An hour later, we had showered and we lying in bed, his head on my stomach.

“So what was your idea?” He asked

“I want you to meet the council. Tell them your story about your mother. I think it will make them see you’re not a threat to them or me.” I replied; “I’m not going to force you, but I think it will help.”

“I’ll do whatever it takes.”

“Are you sure?”

He came up beside me and kissed my lips gently. I hugged him tightly knowing that meant yes.

The arrangements were made and we were scheduled to meet with the council on Friday. He was nervous as I watched him button his blue shirt. I walked up behind him, dressed in a pair of dark blue jeans and black tank top.

“You’ll be fine.” I whispered

“Thanks.” He replied

He turned to me and I took his hand into mine. We left and drove over to Claudette’s house. Jason was waiting outside as we pulled up.

“You’re right on time. They’re ready for you Mitch.” He began

“They want to see him alone?” I asked

“Yeah, I’m sorry Jade. It was a last minute decision.”

Mitch looked at me and Jason, like a deer in headlights. I kissed him and then hugged him tightly.

“Don’t worry, they know better than to try and kill you. I wouldn’t let that happen. Jason will take you inside.” I whispered

Jason opened the door and Mitch followed him inside. I stayed outside and sat on the steps, waiting. My phone rang and I knew it was Ash.

“Hello Ash.” I began

“Hello Jade, have you and Mitch met with the council yet?” He asked

“Mitch is inside right now. They wanted to meet with him alone.” I replied

“He’ll be alright Jade. Even council members cannot break their own laws.”

“That makes me feel a little better.”

My phone beeped and I saw my sister calling. I told Ash I’d call him later, but I had to take this call.

“What’s wrong?” I asked

“I’m fine… morning sickness is…” She paused

“Really kicking your ass…” I finished her sentence

“Hopefully it goes away.”

“Me too… so how do you think he’s doing in there?”

“It’s hard to tell. A vampire’s mind is unreadable.”

“Not even our powers combined…”

“Could even penetrate it…”

“He’ll be alright; I can feel it…”

“Yeah… thanks for calling.”

I hung up and continued to wait. An hour later, Jason and Mitch came outside. I got up and hugged him tightly, and also inspected for any bite marks. Thankfully he was ok, as Claudette appeared in the doorway.

“You have my sincerest apologies Jade. You have a good man by your side.” She began

“Thank you Claudette.”

He took me into his arms and kissed me right in front of her. At that moment I didn’t care who was watching. As we leaned back I took him by the hand and we got back into my car and pulled out of the driveway.

“Where are we going?” He asked

“The lounge to celebrate.” I replied

Nine months later, on a Tuesday night, I drove Jade and Mitch to the hospital. She called Ryan who was in court, to tell him “Baby… it’s time…” I pulled up in front of the hospital entrance, got out as the trunk opened and Jade’s suitcase came out rolling behind us.

“Babe, please go park the car.” I began looking at Mitch

“I’ll meet you two inside.” He replied

He quickly got out of the passenger seat and got into the driver’s seat. We walked inside, the bright florescent lights shined on the white and blue tiled floor; and white walls. A nurse was seated behind the blue admission desk. She had light complexion, short brown hair and eyes; and dressed in purple scrubs.

“Can I help you?” She asked

“Jade Jacobs, my water broke and I spoke to Dr. Kelly. She said to expect me.” Jade replied

“Yes, Mrs. Jacobs. We are ready for you. Let’s get you settled into your room.” The nurse continued

A wheelchair came up behind my sister; she was a little surprised that, she didn’t have to get it. We followed her into the elevator up to the eighth floor. She led us into a very large room; the cream colored walls complimented the dark wooden furniture. There was a king size bed, covered with blue sheets and a rocking chair in the left hand corner. I also saw a half a kitchen, which included cabinets, a table and four chairs, counter space and sink.

The nurse helped Jade into bed and hooked her up to a fetal monitor. Once she was settled, I sat beside her. Mitch came in and sat at the kitchen table.

“Looks good so far.” The nurse commented; “It shouldn’t be much longer.”

“Thank you… Diana.” Jade smiled

“You’re welcome.” She replied

“You know you two will have to…” Jade paused

“Leave the room until she comes.” I replied

Thirty minutes later Ryan arrived, Mitch and I went out into the waiting area. I saw Dr. Kelly, come off the elevator. She was about 5”4, blue eyes, dirty blond hair and tan complexion; she was also a witch who specializes in supernatural and mortal births.

“Not much longer…” I commented feeling my sister preparing herself

Twenty minutes passed and soon I heard a baby’s crying. Ryan came out, dressed in scrubs. Mitch and I stood up with smiles on our faces.

“Come inside and meet your niece.” He began

We followed him back into the room. Jade was propped up with some pillows, holding her daughter wrapped in a purple blanket.

“Meet Paige Elizabeth Jacobs…” Jade whispered

She handed her to me, I stared down at her. She was so tiny, light blond hair and dull blue eyes.

“I’m your Aunt Jade. “ I whispered; “I hope you inherited mommy’s powers. If you do we’ll have a lot fun.”

I handed her back to Jade, as Mitch took my hand into his.It felt amazing and I was ready for whatever was headed our way.
