Who Is This Guy Anyway?
Jeff Zurschmeide is a lifelong automotive enthusiast, with broad experience in restoration, hot rodding, and race car development.
Jeff believes in a hands-on approach to automotive journalism, and so he is a regular participant in motorsports and in hot rod and concours car shows.
His classic MGA roadster won its class at the 2007 Portland Roadster Show and has been featured at the Forest Grove Concours D'Elegance.
Additionally, Jeff is a past overall winner of the Monte Shelton Northwest Classic Motor Rallye, and has long experience racing British and Italian vintage sports cars and was a regular competitor at the late lamented Portland Speedway.
Jeff performs the majority of his own work, and is currently building an Alfa Romeo GTV for track use, and restoring a vintage racing Austin Healey Sprite to street trim.
He has written 3 books on cars which are highlighted on this page.
"And thou shalt smite thine enemy even unto the wall, gnashing thy teeth, and he shall grow small in thy mirrors."

a practical book packed with useful information on the types of projects that a self-trained welder can complete and that a typical automotive enthusiast would want to undertake.
Covers the kinds of welding and metalworking available or commonly used, the tools required to perform welding tasks, the different types of welders available, basic welding techniques, grinding and cutting, various forms of sheetmetal work, frame repair and reinforcement, filling body holes and rust repair, tube-steel projects, and more.
Chump Car Racing
Jeff loves to participate in the Portland International Speedway Chump Car race. This year he served as support for car 29, keeping the team warm and well-fed with his homemade beens with ham hocks and chicken noodle soup.
Good times are back with chump car racing - North America's home for $500 race cars and 24 hour endurance road racing. This is a grass roots series of races for gear-heads; for people who love driving and driving fast in almost-race-ready cars. ChumpCar is a throw-back to the era when racing was fun and cheap when Bondo beat carbon-fiber; when a crescent wrench was the most valuable tool in your box; when home-made engineering made everyone sit up and take notice; and when adding a little theme to your car didn't get you laughed out of the pit.
Jeff's Latest book- just released! If you ever want to enhance and trick out your mini, this is the book for you.
