Jesus The Christ and His Message. Happy Easter!! A Loving Offering to Paula (fpherj48) and my Friends
“God has infinite children, but the name of his fondest child is Peace.” –Sri Chinmoy.
How I love singing this short and extremely beautiful song!
Of course we see this Peace, reflected in another of God’s favourite children, our Lord Jesus Christ. As Easter Sunday approaches, let us remember him not so much for his history or Religion –if indeed he had one - but as a benchmark of what he stood for: His Love, Compassion, mercy and the spirit of forgiveness…
“Blessed are the peace-makers, for they shall be called children of God.” He said.
This same spirit of Peace he carried with him, risking his own life not once, but many times, in true self-offering and soulful service to the men and women of his generation. Indeed, by offering his life as a loving sacrifice, he became a beacon for the entire world of aspiring human beings, longing for Peace.
His message was one of Faith, hope, humility, charity, and universal love. He hoped for a transformation of the inner person, and presented the Beatitudes with a most powerful spirit of authority, such as came only from the Divine.
There is an eternal Kingdom, he said, and we can all go there, to this realm of beauty and Delight. Here is a guide-map and suggestions. This is what would get you there, he said. Foremost among these was Love of God; Love for His sheep. (Us. (Mankind)
“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives his life for the sheep….” John 10:11.
And he made this sublime promise:
“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.” John 14. (KJV)
At Easter time, Love as well as remembrance becomes the motivation for the devotee of Jesus, The Christ. The belief in the impossible, knowing that the dead can rise if only we dare to believe; to have Faith; to reach out with an indomitable and unconquerable spirit.
The Beatitudes of Jesus provide a way of life that promises salvation; they also provide real and tangible peace in the midst of all our trials and temptations on this, our earthly sojourn.
THE EIGHT BEATITUDES OF JESUS
"Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they who mourn,
for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they shall be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful,
for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure of heart,
for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called children of God.
Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
Gospel of St. Matthew 5:3-10
It is so common to for us to believe that what Christ said is not possible, that we cannot imitate his life; be perfect; see God, and yet he tells us so.
Purity implies a freedom from all selfish intentions. A deep commitment within to perform acts without desire for personal gain, even as he did. Such acts spring from pure love. All acts of pure and selfless giving, brings happiness to all.
So let us celebrate the Christ on this special day or days. He was a truly remarkable and selfless visionary, a compassionate and direct descent of the Supreme, who gave his all, for the glory of God in all.
