How to Make Money Writing From Home

In this article I explain in detail

  • What Google Adsense and Google Analytics are and how to join them free
  • How to get paid as a writer online by placing adverts on your websites and Blogs.
  • How and why you should join Google Analytics to find out which articles are making you the money.
  • The basics of what Google Adsense is and how you can make money is explained for the beginner.

Get Paid for Writing Articles Online

One of the Best Ways to Earn Money Online is for you to Create a Website or Blog. Then spend time writing lots of interesting articles and posts. Once you have plenty of good content you can apply to join the Google Adsense Affiliate Program. When you are accepted then you can display targeted Google adverts on your website or Blog pages. It is extremely easy to set up and use and also free to join.

Blogging To Make Money from Home

I am sure you have seen all the adverts about how easy it is to make a fortune writing online from home. No it is not that easy at all but with a lot of work and patience it is possible. This is one of the books I was lucky enough to read when I first started out. Make Money Blogging saved me a lot of wasted hours. It contains some really good advice and shows you how it can be done.

Google Affiliate Program

Step by step guide to get accepted into the Program. Once you are allowed to add the Google ads then you can earn money writing online.

Create Your Website or Blog

I use Google Blogs because they are excellent with lots of applications you can add. This makes the blog look professional and it is all free. You can create as many blogs as you like. This is important if you want to get lots of readers. The best way to earn money from blogs is to write about one subject in each one.

Write at least twenty good blog posts and keep it up to date. I have blogs on Dogs, Writing online, Irish history, Doctor Who and Aspergers Syndrome. As you can see these subjects are completely different to each other. It would be madness to write about these in the one blog.

Write about your chosen subject and attract readers. Add You Tube Videos and interact with your followers. When do you apply to join Google Adsense Affiliate Program? It depends how successful your blog is. Do not be too impatient.

If you are refused into the Program you can apply again but it is better to have your blog up and running and successful first. Once you are accepted then you can add Google Adsense Adverts to all your blogs. For all writers who live in India and some other countries in Asia Google insists that your Blog is up and running for at least six months before you can apply

Writing Sites

There are many advantages to joining a well respected writing site. The main one is that you have a head start when it comes to applying to Google Adsense. They will know the reputation of the site and if your articles, poetry or fiction can pass the standards required by this writing site then Google will be quicker in accepting you into the program.

You are reading this article from my website which is a sub domain of Hubpages. It is free to join and has so many amazing features you can add to each article. You will need to write at least fifteen to twenty articles, poems or short stories of good quality.

Then you can apply to join the Google Adsense Program. The rule about India and some other Asian countries applies here too. Once you are accepted here you can then use your affiliate code number on your blogs as well.

Earning Money

Once you are Accepted onto the Affiliate Program you can start to earn money online. If you have joined a writing site then they will automatically add the adverts to each webpage you have written. The writing site will have an icon you can click on to see the progress of your earnings.

At the end of each month it is calculated and you get paid by Google the following month. There is a minimum payout which for Hubpages is £50, €70 or $100 depending on what country you live in. If you have blogs then earnings from these are also included.

How To Create and Write a Blog

I have a few blogs now and I find them very easy to maintain and update. But when I first wanted to create blogs to make money online I did find it all very complicated. I bought this book which really did set out how to do it in very easy steps. It gets down to the facts straight away and helped me to get started.

Targeted Google ads

Targeted advertisements are designed to appear on your website or blog. Your readers have come to your page because they have done an internet search for the subject you are writing about. So therefore it makes a lot of sense that these readers will want to click on ads that are specific to the subject they are interested in.

If you have a blog or article then Google Adsense will automatically pick the most relevant ads. The best thing about Google Adsense is that you get paid when the reader clicks on the advert to read the information. It does not matter whether the reader actually buys or joins what the ads are advertising.

You get paid because through your Website or Blog you brought a potential customer to the company that had the advert on your page. Customize ads to match your site's look and feel. You can customize the adverts to match your site's look and feel.

You have the choice of different shapes, colours and design. You also have the choice of where you place the ads on your page. Have the ads on the top of your website or blog under your blog name. Or place the ads to the side of the text or under the text or in between posts

Join Google Analytics

You can track the money you are earning online with Google Analytics reports. You can see how much you are earning from your ads with a few simple clicks. It is really amazing the amount of information that is provided for you.

Which Website or Blog is Earning the Most

Other reports tell you which countries your readers are accessing and reading your posts from. How many people there are from each country. How long they stayed on the site, how many ads where clicked and what you earned. These reports can be for a day, a week, a month or from the first time you joined Google Adsense.

Google Analytics Reports

Other reports tell you how much money you made by specific day or date range, page, domain, or ad unit. Then there are others that tell you how many clicks you had on your ads including the CTR, and eCPM. You can see how much money you earned from user visits, user location, browser type, and referring source. You can decide on what methods work best for the chosen subject of your website or Blog. So these detailed reports help you identify opportunities to make more money

Search Engine Optimization

The Google Analytics report on your earnings by user location, browser type, and referring source are important information because you can target your efforts on the search engine optimization that works for you.

The form is simple and quick. You supply the url to your Website or Blog. They have a look at the content and quality. Google Adsense will let you know if you have been accepted

Google Affiliate Program

Now you know what Google Adsense is and how it can help you to get paid for writing articles online. By joining Google Analytics you can also find out which articles or blogs are earning you the most money.

That way you can concentrate on those subjects more and develop an online reputation as an expert in that field. This information is invaluable to you as a writer so that you can make your online writing business profitable.

Hello rajan yes it does help when you know how things work with Google adsense as an Affiliate.

I made a lot of mistakes when I first tried to get paid to write articles online. I made sure to read lots of articles about SEO and how things work.

I am glad you found this article useful

Thanks for the detailed information and the fact that Google may take time to approve Adsense for new website depending on the amount of content.

This made a lot of things clear.

      Thanks again.

Yes Rajan you can use your HubPages Adsense code for your new website.

But I would advise you to wait until your website has a lot of content. Google will look at the website once you put in the code.

They will look at it and either approve it or decline.

This will not affect your HubPages account.

I live in Ireland so it only takes a few hours but with you living in India Google may make you wait for a further 6 months like they did for Hubpages.

Good luck with your new writing adventure

It takes time to earn a lot of money from writing online. Learn all you can and keep writing. Use Google Analytics to see which of your articles are making the money and write more on these subjects.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to leave a comment

It's working for me, but on a very, very small scale. It seems it will take some time and a LOT more promotion for the money to start to come in. My click-through rate is basically nil. I'm working on getting the traffic up.

I want to approve my adsense account through any revenue sharing website. But I want to paste that code on my personal website also. Can anybody tell me that if I add that code on my personal website, will that revenue sharing website from whom I approved my account take her share from the traffic generated by my personal website?

Hi, Good work. However, it is not very easy to get your adsense account approved. There are several guidelines to be followed and recently Google has become more stringent while approving adsense accounts
