Journalism Blogging is it work?

If you are an aspiring writer I have a question for you, what is the first thing you wrote? Writing can come in limitless forms, as everyone knows. It can make money, but making money through writing is hard work, yes I said hard work which means it is work. Some jobs that writers can get involved in include, becoming a journalist, a blogger or even a novel or short story writer. There are much more things that writers can do too, to be classified as writers these are just the big ones right now in my opinion anyway. If you are a journalist do you think that it is just a past time or do you classify it work? I know that some people might be freelance journalists, I am one. If you want to read more about my freelance journalism experience check out my freelance journo post. If you can get hired at a newspaper as a journalist that is considered a job isn’t it? What about being a freelance journalist, you are still a journalist you are just working for a number of different papers rather than just one. It is work because when stories happen and you have to report on them, you have to give them into the paper that you are writing for in order to be published, whether you are paid or not it’s still considered work, isn’t it? I think that it is but that’s just me.

If you are even a part time blogger do you consider it works? If you are a full-time blogger you for sure consider it work, because that is most likely your only source of income isn’t it? I consider both these jobs work, sure you might be able to make your own hours but that doesn’t mean it is easy to do. When you are a journalist you might have to work at weird of hours of the day depending on when the story that you are covering is happening. So some days you might not work all day but others you could be working all day. It just depends on what you have planned in your workday. The same goes for blogging. Do you think that journalism and blogging are work? That is the real question. I think that it is, no matter what type of journalist or blogger you are.

The number of hours that bloggers put into their work is a number I can’t even come up with off the top of my head. Each blogger is different, and each journalist is different when it comes to the number of hours they work. It just depends on their schedule and what is going on at the time. Do you think that being a journalist is work, and do you think that being a blogger is work? Those are the two questions you need to ask yourself if you want to get involved in journalism or blogging. Some people can use blogging as just a past time but others use it as a job, and it can pay you enough so that you don’t have to work at another job but that takes time. So yes it is work, you just have to make sure you do it a bit each day to make it a job.

Some people will probably tell you that, being a journalist who has a job at a newspaper is work but being a freelancer isn’t. Or being a full-time blogger isn’t work because you don’t get paid right away. Sure it might take the time to get paid. But even being a journalist that can happen too. If you are a freelance journalist, you will only get paid if the paper you are writing for said they would pay you and you only get paid if they publish you not just because you are a freelancer for them. So yes journalism and blogging are work, even though it takes time, everything takes time whether it is work or not. If you want journalism and blogging to be work, then treat it as such and in the end, you will get paid for it in some way. Just fight for what you want through your blog and being a journalist you will surprise yourself and the people around you, don’t you worry.

Do you consider blogging or being a journalist work, even if you don't make money off it in the beginning? Everything takes time and the more time spent doing something like blogging you will get paid in the end. Or do you not believe that? Have you ever thought of how much time it takes to be a blogger or journalist? If you think that it doesn't work maybe you haven't thought of the limitless amount of time it takes to write a piece for either your blog or a newspaper. Sure both these things can be done from home or an office, but just because they can be done from home does that mean they don't work? there are limitless amounts of work that is involved in order to be a journalist because you have to interview edit and submit to an editor also you have to be on call at all times for the paper. If a story comes up you might have to go and report on it right away. Being a blogger, however, you might be able to make your own hours a little bit more because you won't really have a deadline to post your posts unless you are guest blogging but if you are doing your own blog posts for your own blog you can set it up where you can post whenever you feel like it.

Both of these writing things are work because you can be paid for both of them. They are not easy jobs either since most of the time you are working by yourself without the direction of someone else. You are the one in control of what you are doing, how much you do and when. But you are still working because once you post the blog post to the site you are using the ads that you have on it are being seen and if people click on them then you are paid. but it takes limitless amounts of time for that to happen you need to get a following first when you are a blogger. To be a journalist you have to hired by the paper and that might take a limitless amount of time but you still have to put the work in so that it is seen before you get paid.
