Journey To Unknown

Journey To Unknown

Journey To Unknown

When the news of your departure came

I wished to be in a horrible nightmare

Hoping to wake up to cast and tie

But I wasn’t in a dream

I could not believe you have departed

Relatives, friends and chiefs gathered

They called your names, you couldn’t respond

All left in gloomy mood

Tears flowing like rivers

Perhaps tears resurrects,

You would have come back to us

Yet you lay lifeless

You killed a wild animal

Which scares away people?

You fought like tiger

And that got you the title “Ogbuefi”

Yet death wasn’t scared to summon you.

When illness hit, you fought back

With your wealth and strength to no avail;

In the afternoon of your being,

Wintry hand of death struck

You withered like morning-rose flowers

That saw the sun

While you were battling with death

You could not bid your family farewell

Leaving your young pretty wife and offspring –

to fate?
