Joyous Seasons - Four Poems in Rictameter

Updated on February 12, 2015

Bronwen loves to enjoy literature and write poetry; some are in her book, 'Dithyrambles', available in her online bookstore.

Spring

Curling, twining young tendrils

Twisting their way to the heavens,

Strive to burgeon upwards

Falling in cascades.

Summer

Squealing, laughing little ones

Splashing in the fountain

Pause to stare in wonder

At rainbows.

Autumn

Steaming, dreaming cows

Standing, watching their shadows

Grow longer in the dewy

Sunlight.

Winter

Slipping, sliding youngsters

Rushing home from school

Sigh, and wait for the lake

To freeze.

It is so beautiful, including the perfume, and don't the bees love it? It can sometimes be a bit intrusive, though, so we have to be careful where we plant it. I hope you get your wish one day.

LOVE the picture of the wisteria :) I just did a Hub of a few pictures of wisteria here in North Carolina :) I'd love to have some growing in my yard one day.

I love wisteria, too, although in one place where we lived there was a very old one and its tendrils seemed to get under the roof tiles and even right inside the house if we weren't vigilant.

Thank you. I actually took that photo in Europe, but we had wisteria and Lorraine Lee roses climbing all over the front of the verandah of our first home, so happy memories!

Faith Reaper: Welcome, and enjoy hubbing, it's such fun! Thank you for your lovely comments. I've found that you can only put one image in each section of a hub, so I divide the text, trying to make it about the same length as the photo I want to add, or make more spaces at the end of the text, so they fit. I've no idea if that's the way to do it, as I'm not really an old hand at it, but it works!

mours sshields: Thank you for your comments. It's very rare for it to snow here, although it gets very cold and sometimes sleets. It does snow up in the mountains, only about an hours' drive away, and we lived in a town there some years ago. The only time I tried to ski I broke my tailbone, but my kids loved it.

Blossom - What beautiful, lyrical words to describe the seasons! So, lovely. Perfect pics too. I'm still learning, as I just started hubbing, and I am trying to figure out how to pop in photos, etc. to enhance my hubs. I tried to copy and paste, but not sure where to paste in my hubs. Thanks for sharing your beautiful gift of words! In His Love, Faith Reaper

Beautiful poem, just like the seasons of the year!! By the way, does it ever snow where you live? Just curious?

How could I not love every single season now, as painted in words by you, Blossom. Spring IS wisteria and you have described it perfectly, tenacious new growth and cascading beauty, oh and the fountain is so very Summer. I think I have photos of my children in this very same fountain on a hot summers day (southbank?)

"Steaming, dreaming cows" - yes that's exactly what they do, dream and steam!!!

Beautiful painting in words, (not to mention your lovely artwork), thank you so much for sharing.
