Just Because I'm a Girl... (Poetry by GalaxyRat)

Updated on June 7, 2017

GalaxyRat is fond of rats and writing. And dark poetry. She knows that people don't like all these things together... but who cares?

Just because I'm a girl,

Doesn't mean,

I should be a housewife,

Try to act polite,

Because I'm just me,

Just me.

Just because I'm a girl,

Doesn't mean

I should wear dresses,

Go to proms,

Have to attend lessons,

I wanna act strong, I wanna be strong.

It doesn't mean

I have to wear frills,

Be Miss Dependent,

Be little miss perfect me.

This just isn't

What I'm meant to be,

meant to beee.

You try to beat me down,

Turn me around,

Make me see you.

See yooou.

But I can't hold on,

I can't be with yooou,

I can't be here long.

I can't be yooou.

I have to put my hair up,

Gotta look pretty,

I've told you this is enough,

I'm letting my hair down.

Letting my hair down.

Catch my breath,

Remember I can be anyone,

Be anyone I wanna be...

And I just wanna be me.

Exactly! Girls don't have to be girls.... if they want to classify themselves that way, fine, but it doesn't mean they have to live fully up to the standard!

You need to just be you, not what others want you to. Good poem.

I know, right! Because they show those freaks that they're boss, they're a harder target. They stand up for themselves.

      Cheers. :)

I love this poem! It is so unique and strong! Actually, stronger women who know themselves don't as easily become targets for Narcissists and other abusers. Excellent poem.
