Just Dance

Updated on June 10, 2011
Source

Together athirst, we play

Like genies free of their bottles

A moment without children

Dissolving on the dance floor

An undulating mass of

Womanly hips and limbs

Adrift in time and music

The bell sounds

A night of frivolity ends

The real world descends

Upon our conversation

The vessel where beat and rhythm

Were all that mattered,

Retreats to the banks of fantasy

We are left discussing

Budget cuts and custody

Foreclosures, fidelity

And the futility

Of dancing in stilettos

It's not the ability to dance in stilettos, but the thought of the sound the make when walking crossing the dance floor...the journey:-))

One of our female friends had a birthday at her place where we are always singing Beatles songs. I told her we were bringing disco music and she was going to dance her pants off. Alas i had to miss out as i was too sick. But my wife and daughters went and had a great time, as did the birthday girl. All the old folk got up and danced too. I can really relate to your poem as dancing is great in many ways. Cheers from a groover.

Lovely. I laughed... the futility of social interaction and romantic music under the starlight... and then brutal reality. So funny.

A most excellent work. How was the night out with the Ex?

Reality or not, I do love the sight of a woman dancing in stilettos. Actually I enjoy the sight of a woman doing anything in stilettos.

      Have fun, Randy.

i liked this line the most. for a moment, you are free, to do as you please, no master, no lock and key, no wishes to make but your own, and you wish to dance!

Hi Tom. When I was little I wanted to live in a beautiful velvet filled bottle just like hers.

Yes MA they even sound like hammers. I'm not one of the stiletto wearers; I'm a boot girl.

Morning attemptedhumour. My girlfriends tease me cause I get totally lost in the music. I close my eyes and go into my own little world. The girlfriend of mine who modeled in my pictorial hub is a music freak. We go to shows and festivals together a lot. She tells me she won't dance with me anymore unless I promise to keep my eyes open! :)

Thank Alekhouse! I'm glad you liked it.

Hi TL. I play with a lovely group of women, all moms. We move our party to different scenery and once in a while we forget our responsibilities for a while. This particular party lasted for three days... but life was waiting Sunday afternoon.

Boot girls where stilettos too, but, more importantly, what better way to enjoy the music's ebb and flow than on the dance floor with a beautiful partner's allure - spinning, and stepping, and twirling so pure, and even though, in the end, pragmatic reality is endured, one can't but feel a tingle of a little life's cure...

Oh lord no, WB, not with my Ex. I can see how you got that idea though.

A couple of my girlfriends live in stilettos. They could probably play basketball in them. Not that I don't own strappy heels, I just wouldn't ever dance in them.

Hey Doug. We didn't so much as scatter, as spill our giggling selves into a warm and waiting rig. But there were others milling about, now that you mention it, with definite bug like qualities. :)

Thanks Nikki! Its fun to get away from our kids for a little while, but if they are not there in the morning the ache I feel is not from the alcohol.

Yes indeed BB, music is my medicine of choice! We don't dance like that though, this was more a throng of women around a fire under the full moon type dancing... minus the fire and moon. ;)

Dancing really is an escape from reality. If reality brings you down, you have to get up, start jumping, moving erratically, whatever it takes for reality to lose its hold. But dancing in stilettos is difficult. Not that I would know. I'm simply taking your word for it.

I like the image you described of reality being something you have break loose.

Hi Randy! I wonder when we are alone and when the music is right, if we don't all close our eyes, vanish in the music and touch that place that screams, let me out, let me feel, let me dance. I think so. Wonderful write that left me feeling. What more could anyone want from poetry? Maybe because I am listening to music as I read. Perhaps, because you are that good.

Perhaps our creators, looking down our life charts, said, "wow they have some rough times ahead... I know lets give them music to make easier!"

There is no finer moment in a man's life than to sit and watch as the scent of a beautiful woman caresses the dance floor before his tired eyes. Her curves and womanly movements with Stilettos or bare feet, either is mighty fine. Sensuality at it's finest. You got this Saddleriders attention.

Good morning saddlerider! Its fun to dance "for" someone. I've learned if you are not, however, its best not to make eye contact. Dancing can send out messages unintended ;)

I absolutely agree, dance for your lover's eyes only. Or just go out and have a blast with your girlfriends and be sassy on the dance floor. You need not worry about eye contact then, although all us men still look and dream:0)
