Just Hold On

Updated on October 1, 2014

What do you do when the desperation seems real

And you feel things no one else wants to feel?

Where do you turn

When reaching out makes you a burden?

When you feel your options running low

And there's no where else to go?

You don't have much in you left to fight

But you can't just disappear into the night

Hold on, hold on, tell yourself to just hold on

One day soon all these troubles will be gone

Get yourself together

Don't stop believing it gets better

I only know of One to turn to in such desperate times, dear Shan. For me, I know He is the only one to fill that empty hole inside my soul and the only one who can satisfy. Your words are deeply felt.

      God bless you. (((Hugs)))

Of course you are right, dear Faith Reaper. I suppose that point is eventually reached for most everyone, including myself, and more often than not the first and/ or only one I turn to. There are moments of feelings so intense that it is a sort of struggle for peace needed right then. And it is a lonely feeling knowing a friend cannot even be there to offer any comfort just by being right there in those moments. After the feelings pass, and for me, somewhat quickly most of the time, the only real choice is quiet acceptance. Maybe in time things will seemingly take care of themselves or other solutions I had not considered will show themselves.

I've definitely felt the emotions expressed in this poem before! It's very good work, it almost reminds me of a song.

Ryem, thank you! I love it when a poem reminds others of a song. Songwriting is something I want to do.

Thanks, Jackie. You guys are awesome! That poem was my own pep talk, so to speak, when I felt all alone. It's good to know it might encourage others as well.
