Just One Dance

I'm a writer, a poet, a dreamer. Born and raised in New York City. I live in the suburbs of Riga, Latvia. I have a wonderful cat named Sid.

I had one dance with you,

just once around the room.

With my heart pounding,

my head reeling,

when the dance was done -

I was in love with you.

Sure hoped you felt that way too,

then your blue eyes sparkling,

you gave me a smile,

as warm as the sun in the sky.

I knew that it was the same for you,

now we are dancing,

together just you and I.

So glad it took but one dance,

to make us fall in love,

make us become as one.

In my mind melodies play

and in my dreams -

we dance on and on.

Dreaming of other lovers,

that once danced through the ages.

Of chandeliers and ballrooms,

the orchestras that played.

So glad there are still,

soft and sweet love songs,

which we can dance to,

holding on tight.

If our two lips should meet,

while the music still plays,

the dance becomes –

a magical, dizzying fantasy.

The love that holds us,

has become passionate and sweet.

Every time that we go dancing -

is like the first time.

when I fell in love with you.

I just finished reading your Bob Seger hub. This was the perfect segue.

Ahhh! So sweet. I wonder who many have fallen in love as they dance to the music. It's a beautiful poem and certainly gives rise to memories of past dances. Take care.
