Just Talking To Mom Is So Wonderful

I went to see mom

Who lives two states away

I go there often as I can

We laugh until our tongues hurt

Making the littlest things interesting and the simplest things fascinating

We go where ever the car will take us

From store to store looking for bargains

When we are finished with one store on to the next without a moments thought

In the car we go on telling our war stories of our recent purchases and bargains

Sometimes it is the buys that we put back thinking we can do better

Only wondering if we should stop to eat and then we agree after one more store

No sooner than we arrive we hear the announcement thank you for shopping with us

We are closing in 30 minutes

I can feel the adrenaline rush

Where do we go first

We have been here before

So we split up

To see who can find the greatest buys before the store closes

Then we have to make it back to the other one and tell them exubertantly

Shopping is a game and we are the human game pieces moved back and forth

On the drive home we are still talking about our latest conquest

We both find life so amazing

When we arrive back home at mom's

I unpack and grab the bags while she goes for her key and opens the door not to waste any precious time

A day filled with non stop excitement like a comedy action adventure movie minus the wonderful car chase scenes

We ended up grabbing a bite at moms

She took out hot dogs and we opened a can of beans

Now the time is after midnight and we are still talking about how much fun we had

We both spent less than expected

Now the real secret is where to put every treasure and in months to come see if all the great buys were truely a good bargain

One afternoon could of been spent doing so many things

I chose to spend it with my mom

Someone who is so special in many ways

I will keep on trying to understand what is this bond that we have

I think it is not about shopping but so much more than that

Finding a way to share time together

With a thirty five year age difference

We got lots of walking in theres the endurance

We threw in some cardio when our hearts started to race

Lots of range of motion since we have to keep looking for the best bargains

We even added in some protein by having baked beans

All in all a wonderful day that I could tell others but I don't think they would understand

You just had to be there I guess

So now we each go home to sleep and rest

It makes a challange to do the things we both can do

One is have fun and the other is have more fun
