Just be real with me
People often find it difficult depicting their true nature when they are in a relationship. Some hide their true identity due to a faulty past. A lot of negative stuffs are often hidden in the closets. It takes much courage to reveal one’s true self. Why should revealing a true character be so difficult? This is an issue worth discussing. Everybody wishes to know the truth about somebody but none is ready to reveal their inner truth.
When in a relationship, it is advisable not to hide certain pertinent traits lest it becomes a surprise to the other party involved. This cuts across all forms of relationship. When people get real with one another, trust is inevitably built. It is rather unfortunate to see people view things differently.
A relationship that is not built on trust is not worth maintaining lest to think of sustaining it. Where there is trust, hurting one another is brought to the minimum. No one gets hurt as there is so much understanding.
The poem below illustrates the reality that most people yearn to have in their relationships but are probably missing it.
1. I know you love me but please be real with me,
I know you hate me but please be real with me,
I know you want me but please be real with me,
I know you need me but please be real with me,
I know do not ask for so much but please be real with me.
2. Life has its ups and downs but i want u to be real with me,
We have been friends for so long and so please be real with me,
We have each other in all things and share all things,
Will there ever be a time we would never share together,
And is that time right about now?
3. Let us be real to be mates,
Let us be real to be friends,
Let us be real to be close,
Let us be real as in knowing each other well,
Just be real with me always.
In this stanza, the writer seems to have found himself in a relationship that lacks trust. He tries to explain to his partner that regardless of how he or she feels about him, it is necessary not to keep him in any dark corridor where he may find it difficult to know who his partner really is.
It is necessary also to avoid apportioning blame to serve as a reason for one’s inability to be real with his or her partner. It must never happen in any relationship as the moment that creeps in, it kills the relationship slowly.
This stanza is more of a state of advice. The writer is trying to explain to his partner, the reason for being real with each other in a relationship. When people in a relationship are real with each other, it comes along with abstract freebies or benefits which can also be harnessed into physical benefits.
