Just no fun...a vampire poem

Updated on February 13, 2013

It’s no fun to be a vampire today

Nobody ever runs away

Instead there are now vampire groupies

An endless line of faces and bodies

Those that seek us out in the night

Hoping to catch just a quick sight

Of the pale cold skin of the vampire

That everybody seems to so admire

It’s just no fun to be a vampire without the hunting

To lose yourself in the thrill of the screaming

The blood always tastes better with a healthy dose of fear

Taken to the sound of heartbroken tears

But now its all changed and different

As vampires as a whole are under new management

With new laws we have to abide by

No more humans are allowed to die

It’s just no fun to be a vampire anymore

It is the thrill of the chase that I used to adore

Pretending to be harmless is a waste of time

We are monsters, predators raw and prime

So give me the days of old

When superstition was passed and told

Huddled around the warmth of fire

Terrified of the night owned by the vampire

It’s just no fun to be a vampire in the modern age

To be so damn fashionable and “all the rage”

Reduced to nothing more than a Hollywood sparkle

It’s hard to be anything but hostile

I don’t want love, adoration or human desire

Screaming fear and blood all I require

I am a dark lord of the darkest night

It’s in your pain and despair I truly delight

So let’s make it fun to be a vampire once more

To have you beg and crawl on a bloody floor

To fill your mind with horror and fear

To feast on your terror and desperate tears

Come on give me just one heartfelt scream

Let me wallow in this my forbidden desire

After all its you who chased the vampires kiss

So eager to lose yourself in deaths dark bliss

thanks heaps I am so glad you like it :) I had so much fun writing it and letting myself vent about what is happening to a long time favorite monster of mine. Always happy when someone else gets it too :)

I do not know if I can scream loud enough. Smiles. What a fun and excellent poem executed with just the right fangs, spiced with just the right fears. A definite Vote UP! Loved it!

I truly enjoy my vampires having bite and I know that you agree with me

so to see the fad it has become both excites me and disappoints me at the same time :)

congrats on getting you book ready for self publication, I know that finishing can be hard and editing can be a nightmare, so well done!

I am so glad that you enjoyed my fun poem :)

Hi Ladyofthenight: I’m about to self publish a book on how to be a Vampire Great and here you are putting it down already as some groupie fad, following the crowd and making it old hat. I’ve met quite a few great vampires with really excellent qualities (which they call theirs) we human humdrums know them as psychopaths and sociopaths. They do an excellent job hiding among us and pretending to be just like us humans, whooo their acting skills are just magical. They seem to gravitate towards corporate, government and power driven jobs, it seems the acting pay is better there. A recent South African vamp was/is the target of what I am trying to reach with my book, words of wisdom, make it real and even better. Better than real life is I believe the ultimate goal of any good vamp, ask any psycho what makes their world a better place. Hollywood did what you claim , to gangsters, made their world seem really mundane, lost its thrill a bit and had vamps deserting by the droves. I think it’s a do-gooder plan to de-vamp the world by making it an ordinary life experience. I’m up for the next exciting development, Vamps are a bit old hat for a Transylvanian, we vain people of Vladish decent. Heads will role is so, so very old hat….. in-fact by wearing the right hat the clowns made it through to fool another way. So skiting about the good old days is a SKYPE at us all, blaming our great, fair and open institutions like Hollygood is making my blood hot, whoops isn’t that how you like it?

Great read and vampish thoughts .

It always brings a smile to my face to see a comment from you on my pages, as I just love reading what you may have to say about one of my poems, and the fact that you credit me with being an inspiration always blows my mind and tickles my ego :)

I love reading your work it always moves me in some way be it awe of your dark pieces, a out loud laugh, or a wee little tear on your more emotional writes, you are a poet that truly inspires and I will am honoured that you would be so kind as to say the words that you have here.... thank you my friend you truly made my day I am more than thrilled that it was a fun read for you :)

....well we are most definitely kindred spirits and poetic soul mates -lol- because I always love your dark pieces and this one is particularly witty and oh so true too.

You always inspire me greatly so when you see/read darker stuff from the epi-man then be very sure you had something to do with it - lol

Sending you warm wishes and good energy from Colin, Little Miss Tiffy and Mister Gabriel at lake erie time 6:45am

p.s. - and yes you are a lot of fun to read.

I have always been fascinated by vampires and was just offended by the sparkling skin and puppy dog eyes

Give me the vampires of old that made us shiver with fear and excitement any day over these teenage wannabes

I'm thrilled that you enjoyed this, have to admit it was a lot of fun to write :)

Great poem making a great point. I love vampire lore, but the recent trend of Hollywood's portrayals have been far off the mark from what a true blood-sucker really is. I love how you speak from the perspective of the Vamp, detesting the change from black cloak to gold sparkles!

      Incredible Poem,

I like it brings up a good point about vampires, it was like a true vampire wrote it, who was tired of the childish games. from the movies and all. Very nice
