Known, but not recognised

By Tony DeLorger © 2011

Seen and not heard,

a concept quite absurd.

Heard and not seen,

now that’s a writer’s dream.

Notoriety perhaps a consideration,

as long as I’m known for my alliteration,

not what food I eat, my favourite snack,

am I thin or thick, having a heart attack.

My words like birds released evoke,

feelings, emotions, not if I do or don’t smoke.

Tabloid junk and questions asked,

relate not to my work, but the width of my ass.

My image a fantasy to all who read me,

one can only imagine that needs be.

For I am a writer, known but not recognised,

the way I like it, fame without franchise.

Anonymous a person, whose words only matter,

away from the public and that incessant chatter.

So when I crack the big one and do the book tour,

I’ll wear a mask and maintain the allure,

that secret me that wants some privacy,

lost in the masses, so I can be me.

My mission right now is to become well-known,

and quietly write and seriously hone,

for I’m ready to become famous under the mask,

known but not recognised is all that I ask.
