Kris's Poetry Corner-Episode 7

Updated on August 22, 2011

How do poems grow? They grow out of your life.~Robert Penn Warren

If you cannot be a poet, be the poem.~David Carradine

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion; it is not the expression of personality, but an escape from personality. But, of course, only those who have personality and emotions know what it means to want to escape from these things.~T. S. Eliot

Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.~Robert Frost

When your days are empty

And your loving cup drained

I’ll be here for you

Whenever you call

I’ll be your comfort

And your rock to lean on

When your strength is gone

The Fool & The Jester

What am I?

The fool

What are you?

The jester

What are we?

A couple of suckers

What the hell for?

Each other

What have we been?

By what?

The Merciful Release

You were right to leave

You didn’t deserve it

I abused you

I battered and bruised you

Turn, leave

Save yourself

I didn’t deserve you

You were too good for me

I raped you

I slapped and scraped you

Turn, leave

Cry no tears

You were used for pleasure

No love was ever there

I broke you

I strangled and choked you

Turn, leave

No regrets
