LAURA'S DREAM: Moon's Dark Side

Updated on February 3, 2016

By: Wayne Brown

(Writer's Note: I wrote this poem as a tribute to the dreams of Ms. Laura Summerville Reed, a fantastic poet in her own right, who writes verses that flow like melted butter over hot biscuits. She has commented many times that she would love to go to the Moon so this was my way of giving her the trip. I hope she likes it! WB)

Some think it lonely on the dark side of the Moon

Think not of lonely, just lunar seclusion

The powdered scape looms large in my mind

I see just the lovely place, just the very spot

Where I will sit and gaze from my lounge chair

The stars pepper the Universe all in plain sight

From my lounger this world is my dream

I share with only those somewhere out there

And those I choose to have right here

Gazing up next to me in my lounge chair

Serenity is mine on the dark side of the Moon

Stars my domain; The Universe my home

The beauty overwhelms the solitude

The shooting stars streak across night’s heaven

And I watch each one here from my lounge chair

Time stands still on this shadowy side of the Moon

No hustle, no bustle, no interruptions now

I have time to soak it all in, to wish upon a star

At times, I see Angels playing in the Milky Way

A thrilling sight from here in my lounge chair

Up here in my chair on the dark side of the Moon

The Universe I own, totally mine alone

I know each star by name and place, every twinkle

Marvel at the glow, gone by day, here by night

I wait impatiently for it here in my lounge chair

Such an amazing dream on the dark side of the Moon

A light show of wonder and joyous delight

The Dippers, Orion, constellations abound the night

The artistry and beauty of each one is mine

As I watch here in dreamy awe from my lounge chair

My dreams come true

On the dark-side of the Moon

Beautiful! What a wonderful place where -- Time stands still . . . No hustle, no bustle, no interruptions . . . time to soak it all in, to wish upon a star

Great video for an amazing song too. A great hub to end the evening!

The mystical moon and dreams fit so well together. The magic of peace and the majestic nature of the universe is described beautifully with your poetic voice. Thank you.

I've had various body parts blamed for some unusual things but my armpits have always been innocent bystanders to the whole sordid affair till now...Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later, lol.

Leave it to charlie to find the sensual verse of your lovely Dark side of serenity. He must have been sitting to close to the sun before he tripped over to your side:0)) A lovely present for Ms Laura, butter melting over HOT biscuits sounds so tasty, can you please send an order down the Milky Way to my star please? I loved this fun on your Dark side, but I have seen Darker sides in your writings Wayne, you are having fun here:0)) I rate it UP fer sure.

Wayne, this is such a beautiful gift. Charlie is wrong this time, I am not easily brought to tears. I am so honored and humbled that you were inspired to write a poem because of my foolish, sentimental rambling - not that I'm surprised that you're capable of it, there seems to be no subject beyond the scope and breadth of your cyber pen - and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will cherish it always. ~ Laura

@ralwus...you made the coffee come out of my nose, Charlie! Ms Laura is gonna be after your case and you know it! She just might write a poem called "Nasty Lil Charlie" and get you back! LOL! WB

Laura is too easily brought to tears. LOL You know I can see that spot, and I think I may have spotted her there on occasion. Mighty lonely place though, and so cold, she needs a companion there to keep her warm.

@BAD...Billy, I wrote this one for the lady below in these comments. She loves the Moon and Stars and writes like butter. Thank you for the nice comments! WB

@lalesu...Laura, this one is all yours. My little way of sending you up for that lawn chair experience on the dark side of the moon. I am glad you liked it! WB

Wayne Brown, you've brought tears to my eyes. It's beautiful, magical, you captured it, quintessentially and ethereally and I love it. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! It's so perfect.

Wayne a beautiful piece of work - the dark side o the moon is the place to rest and be at peace I see that - I wouldn't mind being on the dark side of the moon every now and then in my arm chair. Nice.
