LIFE GOES ON: A POEM

Updated on June 8, 2012

O thou great master

Who never ceaseth thy tasks and employments

Seasons and ages have you witnessed

Seen them all strive though burdened or blessed

You have seen the young maidens’

Luscious honey curls turn to grey

You have seen chivalry and gallantry fade away

In a new fangled bombastic pace

Yet as ever, relentless, stoic, held mighty sway

You have seen death rob

Us of comrades and people in the bloom of their youth

And ageless friendships cause ageless pain

Held fast your ambitions in the very face of truth

Kingdoms have turned to dust

Romance ruined by lust

Yet aloof and tenacious, you still contrive

To keep the wheels moving, to perish or thrive

Life goes on

When all love dies

With death’s cold grip

Beauty flies

What do tears mean to you?

You create agony anew

We are insignificant puppets, are we not?

A hopeless, slighted lot

Plunder all our cherished treasure

You may take away the loved ones

Rampage and rave at your leisure

Love shall triumph forever, hence

Till the day the drum beat sounds the skies

Keep your murderous wheels moving

And He shall end your heinous lies

Bliss on the righteous’ love, bestowing!

The perilousness of being timeless. I am glad that I shall not live forever to outlive those that I cherish...
