Put your little things away

I do not need to see

They remind of your past days

There nothing there of me

Put your little things away

I don’t want to hear

Memories of your long lost loves

There’s things there that I fear

Put your little things away

Don’t you understand?

The past is gone, it is no more

I am now your man

Put your little things away

Don’t you see my pain?

There’s old memories all in there

Things that I now distain

Put your little things away

You know that soon we marry

There’s too much burden in the past

No memories can we carry

Put your little things away

Hide them away I plead

Memories of lost love gone

Things that I don’t need

Put your little things away

Come sit down by my side

The time for us is now and ever

My love I cannot hide

Very melodic..sounds like a country song to me. I can almost hear the music as I read it. Very nice....sad and beautiful at the same time.

"Memories of you long lost loves

There’s things there that I fear"

These are for me the most telling lines in the poem. When everything is said and done, we are still human and still vulnerable. Very well done, Wayne.

SG....something from my fragile side. My wife tells me that I am a bit too insecure at times. I guess it is showing a little. Thanks for your encouragement! WB

Nah Wayne, you insecure, not on your life. The way you write the fluidity of verse with each line. Your a natural born writer, keep them coming, it's a pure delight to read everything of yours. So don't put anything away sir.

Not so insecure about my writing as I am my "good-looking wife" Ken. That's what drives the poem! WB

Wayne Brown, this is beautiful! You've got a writer's soul and poet's heart. I have the antithesis of this poem in 'Blister', not nearly as lovely as 'Lil Memories', though.

      Wayne,

When were young were insecure. Then we grow old and have good reason to be insecure. Things don't work like they used to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Tom Whitworth...Tom I think you just described my life! WB

Wayne I agree this would make a great song - the sensitivity but assuredness comes through loud and clear. A great poem about moving forward.
