Lake Blue - Poem By Cathy Nerujen

Updated on January 13, 2017

This poem by was inspired by a weekend I spent at a lake-shore house with Cassy. It is an amazing place to unwind your soul and let your spirit free. My poem pays homage to nature and waking up to its beauty. The view of the glass smooth blue water outside our window was stunning, and I had to capture it in words...

In gilded golden
calmest dawn -
as boats with red
and rusted bronze
lie sleeping 'pon
the milk pond lake
of stillness rare -
as brightness comes.
The world it waits -
the world is new -
as Nature wakens -
Lake of Blue
life it pauses -
night is done -
an artist's hand -
it renders you.

Our house is silent -
all is still
its white-washed walls
and window sills -
the sunshine lights
upon your face -
our blankets warm -
they stop the chill -
the clock upon
the mantelpiece -
it counts the time -
and says our grace
We snuggle close –
I breathe you in -
my hands are wrapped
around your waist.

Lake Blue
Lake Blue

And soon you stir -
then wake and rise -
You rub and blink
your sleepy eyes –
you take me in –
then smile at me -
we kiss – your lips
so soft and nice –
your eyes are brown –
a log-fire warm -
we light the lamps and
watch the dawn -
and holding hands
with love renewed -
our Lake of Blue sky
day is formed.

This poem is fondly dedicated to Fehl Dungo (Blaise25 on Hub Pages) my Angel and Cassy. You are both so special to me, and so loving and supportive. You push me in my writing and make me go beyond my comfort zone. Thanks to you both, and to the poetry, writing and art magazine we started together, with FlashstarMagazine.com.

Hi Colin, Oh wow... I hope I am not a bad influence, then. Hehehe... :)

As long as it's romantic and well-meaning... that's my secret sauce... *Winks here* Oh I love Sannel's beautiful poetry and writing and I miss her on the hubs now, But I am loving her beautiful blog. She is a very special person. She is a rare breed of person and a free spirit. Together you are a formidable writing couple. *Takes that snap of you both now* LOL.

H'mm six degrees of poetic seperation? Gosh that is nice of you to say this. Oh you deserve big hugs for that, Mr Epi. Thank you for the warm thoughts, you are lovely to say that. :)

Have a sweet day, Colin... there at Lake Erie, time... um... getting a bit late and time for supper...

      Now where is that meatloaf?

      :)

...you have always influenced 'greatly' the romantic erotic side of my writing Cathy and in turn have influenced the lovely Sannel too no doubt through her muse (which is , lol, me) .....what do they call that - six degrees of poetic separation - lol - either way you always write with your beautfiul heart and that is a thing of beauty in itself - sending warm wishes and good thoughts your way from lake erie time 2:34pm canada

Hi Angel, yes it is about a wonderful moment just as dawn was coming up on a beautiful lake of blue water, and the water was so still. It was magical. :)

BeyondMax, your comments flow through my hubs today like a babbling stream. Thank you for the kind comments. Lake Blue is a nice tribute to Cassy and a wonderful weekend holiday and waking up to the world as though just being born. But poetically it is a mere snapshot. Have a sweet day. :)

Hi Dim. Wow, it's great to see you always in my comments. Thank you so much. The lake is a very beautiful place and it becomes more beautiful when it is shared with another person.

Hi Vincent: Lake Blue is my attempt to try something different in my romantic poetry. Pouring out our innermost private thoughts and feelings can be a risk, and all poets do this to write. Or all writers for that matter.

Those special moments are precious to me and I know that if I lose them, I might never get them back. So my poems are my poetry scraps of those memories and their best bits. And Hub Pages is my digital scrap book. LOL.

The tender moments are always special. There is so much beauty in the world. Whether from without or within, I don't want to go through my life and claim I never experienced it or tried to capture even some of it. For me, it always come back to the special people in my life.

And the rest is self explanatory. Thank you Vincent as always for your great comments and observations. :)

Lake Blue majestically stunning piece of your heart and soul laid upon white for your lady. What a wonder to let hearts entwine and find their own way. Together holding hands and looking deeply within each others soul, eyes marvel at each others tenderness.

To snuggle, hug and lay so close is simply a moment in time we cherish with delight and know that we are home. Peace and blessing to you both. Hugs.

Hi echoe0021, words are just as good as tubes of paint. If you just close your eyes and describe the last beautiful thing you remember seeing, chances are high you will paint it with words. I love poetry so much. Thank you for the comments. I will be checking your hubs too. :)

Hi Fehl, I wrote parts of it when I was there. Sometimes you have to just enjoy the moment and not feel distracted. Everyone should have a Lake Blue moment in their life... Yes... complete is a good word...

I love you so much, Fehl. :)

Hello Ruby, thank you for checking out my new poem. The love is magnified in nature's eye... It's like Gaia knows it somehow... Best wishes to you always. :)
