Land of my Birth..

Updated on December 27, 2014

…..........Land of my birth.

Located in the Eastern Caribbean and at the southern most tip of the Windward islands, world famous Grenada can be found. This tiny, but equally breathtaking and magnificent island of three, which I proudly boast, is the "Land of my birth.” They are the trinity of Grenada, Carricou and Petite Martinique. The largest of the three is Grenada, sitting approximately one hundred and three miles north of the famed Trinidad and Tobago, two islands and considered the world's capital of calypso, the most potent rendition of calypso and steel pan music can be found there. Another significant reason for which I specifically mentioned those two neighbors, one is to give mention to the birthplace of my grand mother on my mother's side, which is Tobago and to also give mention, to that of the Mighty Sparrow, the world's undisputed Calypso King, who also shares my birthplace, Grenada, but made Trinidad home.

A must for tourist and for other West Indian nationals who have spent considerable time in foreign, when visiting the Caribbean. Known for their combined world famous attractions, the the key reason making Grenada, a must visit on any Caribbean venture. This island paradise, has been a popular and well sought after destination for many years, attracting visitors from all over the world.

Grenada is now also, the birthplace of the Olympic and world champion 400 meter runner Kirani James.

For many years agriculture and tourism has been the islands primary source of revenue. With it's more than fair share, of Nutmeg, Cocoa and Banana, these three have always done well in the export business, with the most stable of the three being the Nutmeg, which has been alone at the top as the most durable and staple to be that island's mainstay.

This comes as no surprise, since all three are all products of the island's agricultural back ground. This product, the Nutmeg, it has for as long as I can remember and even longer before that, it has been the champion, which kept Grenada solidly on the map, exporting this special crop. For many years, Grenada’s nutmeg production sat a solid second in quantity, only to that of Indonesia, but has always reign supreme, sitting at the top in quality and consistency. This made the constant demand even greater as being of a Grade A in quality standards product.

Here is a picture of the Nutmeg and I am quite happy to say, that every part of this product is useful and constantly high demand.

Everyone who have lived, was born someplace and with this, they are bound by both their instinctive abilities and by the laws of nature, to give high honors and continuous praise to the land of their birth.

However there is sort of rogue mentality in circulation, which people have acquired and built up at times they would rather cut off their noses and spoil their faces, before speaking truth about their homeland. This attitude can only stem from a source of selfishness and ignorance. This baffles me, especially when it comes from people of the West Indian background, only because I know firsthand of that background and the area am pointing at mainly is that of their belief. The West Indian people are a god fearing people, taking nothing away from people from all walks of life, but its important to me to speak profoundly on that which I know beyond the shadow of any doubt.

For ages, people have been visiting Grenada just to experience the spectacular beauty of this magnificent, pristine and virgin tropical Paradise. The epitome of which is nothing short of the friendly god fearing people of this island. This is what makes Grenada, nothing short of a heaven, in the in the Caribbean and a great representative for that part of the West Indies.

This Island can be magnified times over, by using any of its different life giving, life enhancing and life saving attributes that it possesses. But there’s none more so, than that which I love and would recommend being used as failsafe method to enjoy that island. This is though the people.

Of those many places I have already visited, I have honestly, not visited a place and seen a nation of people, that are as naturally friendly to strangers, as I have in Grenada. I am quite qualified to make that comparison based on my numerous travel experiences.

Picture of, people having fun in Grenada.

Sitting above, in this picture taken in Grenada, are just a normal gathering which I picked at random, but just about any picture one can choose where strangers and nationals are mixed for enjoyment, whether day or night, the smiles will speak for themselves, they are indicative, with a visit to that island, friendly by nature, with quite a keen knowledge of their surroundings.

I have had the pleasure, of traveling to many places in this world and have seen quite a lot of faces, that's why it is with great assurance and without any fear, of someone within the range of my voice, deciding to put my findings to any test. I can speak with the assurance of, not being embarrassed or let down. This attribute seems to be engraved in the very foundation of the Island itself. Judging from it’s location on this earth, its blessed and priceless soil, fertile beyond comparison. Its friendly atmosphere, rich waters combined with the constant and extremely clean continuously refreshing scent, being conditioned by the famous Trade Winds.

Here is a look at the Karnali River, with some rafting taking place.

The beauty of its calmly flowing waters, born of nature as it meanders through trails carved out and laid down possibly over countless years. Of the many rivers, which effortlessly snakes their ways to wonder from one place to the other, all depending on the size of the rainfall for any given time, still a magnificent sight to behold.

This rainfall, is one which is seen throughout, as the most life giving source of everything good, is a constant blessing to both to the soil and to the people. Water as we know is the source of life and in Grenada, it lives and produces life in abundance.

It has always done more good than bad for both. These also are reason most Grenadian nationals, possesses such a strong belief in God. Imagine being on an island anywhere on this earth, where everything is given in perfect portions. It could be nothing short of the Most High God's perfect plan. The rivers appear to be guided, as they travel and carry the perfect amount of everything they needs to sustain life. This can only be seen as God’s continuous plan for that island.

Here is a peek at the world famous, Grand Anse Beach.

I believe that every entity on this earth and especially on this blessed Island, is without a doubt following in the paths of his divine plan.

The Rain which comes from the sea, take a taste yourself, see how salted it is. There is a reason. It evaporates and eventually comes down again drinkable. Most places on earth are able to survive this way , which I term, through the blessings of the Most High. This way each place is able to sustain itself.

These waters rains down to the earth and onto the Land of my birth, where the rivers acts as parents, being the matriarch in the life of the pride, as somewhere down that flowing line, you can find their offspring's, just as you would with parents and their children, those beings the small streams and tributaries dancing and playing to join again late, in some forces heading out to sea.

These lessons should be wisely taught, to our children as they, grow up to become tomorrow's men and women, so that they in turn, would respect the source of all life and from whom it comes, showing gratitude and pride and not take these handy works for granted.

This highly visibly and apparently effortless motion, as the water hugs these carved trails that have been formed and created over time, quickly following through beautiful paths, sometimes making their way through caves and over spectacular Water Falls, sometimes plunging great depths, where again they create these, even more magnificent work of beauty and life sustaining natural phenomenon, as they flow headfirst into to dark “Abyss” surrounded by great lush vegetation, there is such a spectacular meeting place for countless life forms and a place, where new species of plants, can be seen blossoming to life .

As we have only recently came to understand that water is now considered to be the primary source of all Life.

I will say only that it is God’s water.

Take a look at one of the beautiful water -Falls at Annandale, St Gearges

Surrounded by all the natural beauty one can find in this tropical paradise and mirrored only by that true green rain forest beauty, which exist, only in those designated areas of our world. Seeing them on their way , all in this serene dance to eventually surrender to the sea.

While the island voidance of any poisonous snakes creates an inviting atmosphere, places where one can walk fearlessly through the moonlit nights, on trails formed in time .

Again, I can only say that those areas on this earth, where the nights puts on the most spectacular light shows one can imagine, and the days exposes you to some of the most addictive feelings of peace and tranquility, with natures air conditioners are always on full blast injecting the breeze of the constantly blowing of the those ever present Trade Winds.

Every naturally occurring event in this place, reminds its nationals of the need to be friendly, and that it seems, is what was passed on, keeping those who remained there, to be constantly reminded. Always having it’s own fair share, as those people who remained, goes on to produce the same concentrated gathering, of the God fearing, kindness, hospitality and that attentiveness to its visitors.

The island's friendly people, living in the most inviting environment available, listening the the songs played by those ever present Trade Winds as they whistle through the trees and other structures, in a way that welcomes every visitor including her own who enjoys that around the clock experience.

Another look at Grand Anse Beach.

Signaling what that Island nation of Grenada has made, as her own confidential agreement with Mother Nature, as to what she will constantly need.

To be welcomed and cooled by the captivating touch of those eco friendly infamous and world renowned “Trade Winds” which has also been granted free access to roam through the island fair share of mountains, with Grenada’s most famous being: Mt. St Catherine. These winds patrol the hills and valleys, as if in constant search of some unknown destination.

By their friendly attitude of her people, being constantly displayed, one look at their demeanor towards everyone, native or visitor.

It’s as if the names of all who visits have somehow been programmed in these movements of these life giving and life saving entities. I have never seen so many ladies, having to put up these drastic fights with anyone and anything, as I have seen the visitors making their chose between, their hats and their shirts or dresses, sometimes attempting both.

Grenada is a proven must, for all world travelers, and any first time visitors on their way to see this wisely kept secret by the water.

The world famous, Grand Anise beach, together with her beautiful sisterhood of beaches, some which glistens with dark crystal sand, while the white sands shine in the daytime, with every peek of its equatorial Sun

Those priceless diamonds just lay crying, awaiting every new Discovery!

Grenada boasts so many great places of interest, that no three day cruises, or even one week with a friend, or even just by being a “Tourist.” These alone can never be a sufficient amount of time to capture Grenada’s natural and breathtaking beauty.

A place which seems to be one of God hand picked, blessed, and protected since its inception, up to this present day.

Being born in a place, which every West Indian national, would voluntarily join with me in showing that same deeply rooted Pride for his respective birthplace.

Beauty come from every view one take at the land of my birth. May God continues to bless that beautiful Island of: Grenada.

We fly to Grenada and have been once but only at the Maurice Bishop International Airport to drop off and pick up passengers. We only had an hour stop, so we didn't really get the chance to see the place.

I've heard (and read) it's a beautiful place in the Carribbean and I'm putting it in the bucket list.

      Good hub!

You nailed it as you would say, or use to say because I travel and I am an agent, but I can't disclose deep cover but by their fruits you shall know then.

It's a beautiful place to Vac-ay, but the secrets rest in the type of person you are, they are just like I am over there they can see you from a mile away. God fearing people. That should speak volumes. They love visitors.

      Bless brethren Frank.

It happens , but by you saying not in my head , you blew it out of the water, and that is a great thing.

Can't tell you my kind of trend in my thinking , but I can tell you my conscience is my guide. It sends me magical reasons why I should and should not do certain things.

So you are most definitely should not let you do anything but what you did . It's beautiful !

I visited about 7 out of the 700 hundred I believe exist.

I am sure you went to Free port, and Nassau?

Keep with that spirit "AE" it never fails and it already is in charge of such a great part.

      Bless and sincere thanks.

Thank you "AE" many years ago I use to be in Jamaica twice a week. A place called Port Antonio, and the other Ochio Rios.

Jamaica is not too far away about 1100 miles. I can see my house in the picture on the top. It's a beautiful place to visit. That Grand Anse beach is world famous. Was three miles long when I left many years ago.

You are always speaking about Hawaii , so would be no surprise. lol.

      Bless "AE"

This is such a serious piece here you won't believe how I end up scribbling this part for HP, if you get to a certain age and you don't get at least something Sure , from child hood from school, from family from God, from relationships , then most likely it missed you, it's man that built , program and command the computer. I guarantee you , hand me the very best in computer and I run rings around him in survival . One of the main human attributes. Not man should defeat another all across the board.

Those Grenadian Nationals depending on their ages , maybe friends of mine in one way of another. Use to goal keep at a pretty high standard, Table Tennis , top level and the brain.

Well I think I know the funds you will be using and why not. The sea was my home.

Your place of birth sounds wonderful, and full of beauty. I went to Jamaica on vacation and absolutely loved it, the white sand, the wild orchids. Is Grenada close to Janaica? I love Harry Belafonte's, ' Island in the sun ' Thank you for sharing you place of birth..Bravo..
