Laryngitis of the Heart

Updated on March 3, 2011
Source

Laryngitis is a funny thing...
that can, unbidden, just appear.
Without a rhyme or reason,
or forewarning that is clear.

One day you can awaken
from a most refreshing sleep
but when you open up your mouth
can utter not a peep.

And for a time you're speechless
not a thing you can can repair....
your vocal chords have gone on strike
no sound can you declare...

Then suddenly, the voice returns
to once again be heard...
With much relief, your open mouth
then flows with spoken word.

So it is with the human heart,
whose emotion it must give,
laryngitis takes a hold,
muting voice it needs to live.

Then, magically your voice returns
once more, you can be heard...
With much relief, that open heart
now flows with written word.
