Late Night Musings.

Updated on April 22, 2010

Late night musings.-by-MFB III

Here It is

not yet one a.m.
I sit warm beside a fire
as the burning

wood it crackles
launching sparks

to be extinguished
in the winter

storm's wet kiss
and my T.V.

softly cackles
laughter from a sit-com,

decades old
but my attention's

elsewhere
drawn to paper

beneath my pen
with inkstains

charting my emotions.

I'm scribbling

poetry again
on the brink of

the next thousand years
I still must

chronicle my feelings
when most folks

now look for their answers
from a cell phone,

or their computers.

I field my questions,

 and then frame them
in a carefully

worded structure
somehow this brings

me satisfaction
cause when I'm finished,

I've found peace
Plus I am left

with a collection
of life's nostalgia to peruse
but now it's one a.m.

I'm off to bed
with hopes to

catch a snooze
that finds a dream

that dares a-muse
with most inspiring views.

      Noble Spirit, thank you !

You help us remember who we are!

      You are good.

      You show us light

      to find our way

      back home.

      To laughter and good cheer

      and we are one

      without fear.

      Your spirit,

      we salute!
