The Moon Is Dead Tonight

Updated on January 24, 2015

The Moon Is Dead Tonight

The moon is dead tonight… with all

Her charms…and the stars…slumbering

In the thick blanket of fog…

No trace of light… in the sky…

Black... condense…sticky… liquid…

Darkness…out there…as if

God as a naughty child…emptied

A huge inkpot… playfully… in the sky…

The lamppost… lonely… at the end of the lane…

…got a weird look…in obscure mist…as if

Someone… standing with a hurricane lamp in hand…

Finding his path…lost in the mystic murk…

The station clock declares time…

By striking three times…

Dhong…dhong…dhong….

The last train of the night…is gone…

Her blowing whistles…rung for some times…

In the darkness…in the whirling smog…

Solitary meadows…the jingling crickets…

The glowing glow worms heard them…

And me…in my bed…accompanied with my

Insomnia…waiting eagerly…when the angel of

Slumber will take me…to her magnificent…

World of dreams….unknown…happiness or…

Note: Hurricane Lamp a light produced by burning paraffin that has a strong glass cover to protect the flame from wind with hanger to carry easily.

You've created the mood and atmosphere well. I like the dream quality of this and also love the idea of God playfully emptying an ink well!

Thank you for following me. I will reciprocate.

Yeah, Jibonanondo das is one of my favorite. I am also a fan of Humayun Ahmed, specially Himu and Mishir Ali.
