Laying The Ground Work For A Better Tomorrow

Updated on November 7, 2013

Giving Keeps On Giving

No thinking required

There are many situations in life that face us every day

We may never know the impact we leave behind

I am sure it is so wonderful that we would be amazed

How many lives we have changed for the better

Just by helping others when needed

In life we see so many people in just one day

Multiply that by days in a year

Count the years

The number is too staggering for even math maticians to figure out

So each day no matter what happens and how the day ends

Always remember you make the difference

You are so important in the great big scale of things

So if your like me and the day didn't go as expected

You had a tougher time than usual

You are a little sad because some of your friends and love ones have passed on

Take a moment and think

How they have changed your life

Making each day a little better for you

Maybe they said and did nothing out of the ordinary

Just knowing them was enough

Seeing their radiant smile that lit up a room like no other

It was the way they did it that made all the difference

In a world where we can buy almost anything with money

This is something money can never buy

So in the fondest memories of my mom and dad

I keep them so much alive

In every action I know that would make them proud

As I try to do the right thing

Then as I make many mistakes

Working hard trying to correct my slight errors in judgement and wrong calculations

I laugh and say quietly to myself mom and dad you made it look so easy

I never knew how much you did

In my life I got to show you in some ways

Now in your absence I get to show you in other ways

As I close my eyes I feel your presence

There are so many times I reach out and tell you how much I love you

Now is no exception

For dad it's been twenty two years

Mom coming up on one year on the tenth of this month

Life can be crazy and mixed up

Other times it can bring the most joy anyone has ever seen

Most of the time my life is a lot of grey area somewhere in between

As I appreciate the memories I have and make new memories

I just wanted to put my deepest thoughts on paper

Where I can see my words

Instead of feeling them race through my mind

Like the fastest car in the world

Doing what it does best

Where performance is key

The rest is history

Michael-Milec I will also enjoy your words of wisdom. Just as someone passed this along to you I will pass it along to others. Thanks again for sharing my writings.

      Hi Michael.

      Very nicely spoken.

As a little boy someone introduced me to this, which never left me: "Throw your bread on the surface of the water, because you will find it again after many days"

      Voted up and beautiful.

Oh, so your mother passed on recently :( So sorry, but I'm glad you have the memories to cherish, the examples to live up to, and those who you really want to do well for.

Thanks for sharing this with us. I'm sure your folks would be very proud of you, and I enjoy when you jot down your rushing thoughts onto "paper".

      Have a great day!

If we don't see how far we have come then we are missing out in the beauty of life.annart The old saying is so true we don't know what we have until it's gone.Thank you both for reading and sharing. You have once again made my day better than it started.Rain on it's way but in my mind the sun is always shining.

I can identify with this as my parents too gave me so much in so many ways, all seemingly without effort. It's the butterfly effect that works so well when we help or smile or teach. Lovely hub! Ann
