Led by Clowns: a Satirical Poem

Val is a life-long student of the psycho-philosophy of living and a devoted practitioner of many techniques that enhance personal evolution.

In a circus known as Earth

there are clowns known as leaders

this is story of their worth

just for laughs, my dear readers.

Each and every clownish dude

well rehearsed to make us laugh

with a role refined and shrewd

sometimes even looking tough.

Pretending is their routine

getting them standing ovations

while they manage to stay clean

after duping their whole nations.

Funniest of all their acts

that makes them two-faced to their core

is signing all those peaceful pacts

while keeping world at a brink of war.

As they can read each other's bluffing

circus admission is free

and so is worrying, so is laughing,

so how serious could all this be?

As long as they pretend to lead

we can pretend to follow

for we are all a circus breed

with heads so smart, and yet so hollow.

Awesomeness. I loved it. Describes our twisted world. Would vote up if I could.

Ryan---I am glad you liked it. I know that many people don't like clowns, many are even spooked by them with some sort of a phobia---so I picked clowns on purpose, hoping that they would give a little macabre character to the world leaders---which they deserve.

What a great and fun poem even though I am not at all a fan of clowns. I like the flow of this poem. Great job.
