Legacy - An Ode to Family History

Updated on July 25, 2013

Though darkness may fall

And sorrows increase

I stand on the promise

That my legacy lives on in my children

Each one a gift, and a promise

That through them

The foundation of family remains – Unbroken

Life will go on

Family will remain

As history continues to write itself

The world keeps turning

The old die and the young forget

Memories of family long gone

Fade like old photographs

Only their names remain

Written in the crumbling pages

Of the Family Bible

Stored in the bottom of a box

Shoved to the back of the closet,

Or the corner of the attic – out of the way

Making room for the new, the young,

And the legacy of today
