Let Destiny Seek Me Out

Updated on July 15, 2016

Let Destiny Seek Me Out

By Tony DeLorger © 2011

On distant hill my destiny sits,

waiting patiently for my consideration.

Long has it sat there, within sight,

but without connection.

I momentarily peer into the distance,

and it stares back at me with disdain,

hoping I will take that step,

where long beginnings take flight.

I cannot make it out,

that fate of mine, so near, so far.

It wrestles with my imagination,

takes to task my every decision.

How long must I flounder in my hesitance,

unsure of my steps, my movement.

When will this fate be obvious,

the steps of which I must follow.

Life is a procession of choices

that reveal even more choices;

one door closes, another door opens,

all laid out like a table feast.

The problem remains,

where does one start, which door is right.

Perhaps I should not seek that distant hill,

and be who I am.

Maybe then that distant hill,

will relinquish my fate,

and let it find me,

become whoever I will be.

Thanks Tony for this one! I vividly remember these same emotions about 25 years ago. Just as these piece expresses, when I stopped trying to find my destiny it found me. Thanks for the memories.
