"Let Go of Me" by Eric Wayne Flynn

"Let Go of Me"

I've been yours for quite some time now

We've made love in the morning sun, on rainy afternoons and snow filled nights

Holding hands in that same snow

So in love yet no one was to know

Of our passion

Of how I cut myself open just so you could see me bleed

Of how I walked to the end of the earth for you

Yet you knew I was doing it for me

Using you to lean on, I had no where else to turn

I was needy

I am needy

I am a child

I need to be free

If only to be reborn to come back to life to love you again

If only you could see how much I truly need you, my lover, my friend

My everything

I give you my all

I press hard to make you feel my love

I was lucky enough to have you

If only for one night, keeping me company, my candle

But our affair carried on and on

Our stories burn eternally

Even right now I'm thinking of you

Only you

Why do you matter so much to me?

Why do I have to be in your world to breathe

To feel alive

Something you have given back to me

I can't help but feel you leaving

I can have nothing and still be my happiest when I'm with you

I need a break

Im beating you to the point

Where your'e dead in my arms

A pile of pulp

What have I done?

You kill what you love

Inflicting pain upon it

Because your'e numb

And you need to feel something else

In your absence, instead of hurting you, I'll take myself out of the equation

And step to a ledge

And look over the edge

Bout 3 miles down

They say you die before you hit the ground

Cool, you don't have to feel the thud

But If you let go of me, I'll promise I'll come back to you with wings

And it'll be just me and you again

And we will be better

We will be back

We will be real

Please just let go of me and I won't go anywhere, I swear

Just let me fall for a while

Let me be me

Let me float, let me fly

Let's take a chance and see if i

Find something new to bring back to you

Eric, to me this says you are intending to take a break from writing for awhile. We all need to do that at times to refresh, and find we come back with greater desire and purpose then ever before. I know that is the case with me. Do you feel your writing is getting stale, or you are losing the passion at the moment? If this poem is an example I don't feel your writing has lost anything. I love this, one of my favourites so far. Voted up.
