Let My Heart Bleed a Question (a proposal poem)

Updated on August 19, 2012

This is what I recited to my girlfriend when I proposed to her.

A nexus of Love, this spot will from henceforth be;

As I recite you this verse, penned for you...from me.

For your beauty from face, to mind, to heart

Are no doubt my favorite works of art.

And to paint a scene with hues from your soul

Would form a picture of Bliss...make me whole.

Our time together, we’ve so much to share;

Our riches, our sorrows, our souls to bare.

Time’s made us fonder, and by you I’ll stand;

Right by your side—heart-to-heart...hand-in-hand.

We love, support, encourage each other,

But the Grace of God will take us further.

With Him as our focus we’ll be fulfilled,

In all that we are and all that we build.

Rachel, I drop myself upon one knee

Because my Heart’s idée fixe concerns thee.

I want you to forever be a part of my life.

Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?

      Awesome!!! A very emotional poem, I enjoyed it. It seemed old fashioned in a wonderful way, a way that some people have forgotten in this modern day (sounds like I' m starting to write a poem). Congrats to you and Rachael. Thank you for this poem :)

      This is my very very favorite. I think it should be read at your wedding. Very well written.
