Letter to a soldier

Updated on March 6, 2012

A Kiss That Lasts Forever

Most of remember our first kiss, but what if it was our last one? Everyday someone is forced to kiss their true love good bye as they go off to war, praying they will kiss them once more.

My Letter to My Lost Soldier

Bittersweet is the ending of my words to you,

Holding onto hope of seeing you soon.

To feel your arms holding me tight,

While lying next to you all through out the night.

However, my hopes must stay just that for now,

'Cause I have to say good-bye some how.

For you need to travel so far,

And fight underneath foreign stars.

But, are they so foreign? I will tell you no,

And this is why I can say so:

For I sleep where you sleep, I wake where you wake,

I hope where you hope, same prayers I make.

I will be walking with you everyday,

You must know I'm only a breath away.

Just close your eyes when touched by fear,

To see me, to kiss me, to feel me right there.

So, now we must both lay down to sleep,

As the stars up above, so shall our eyes meet.

Here in our dreams, true they will be:

I promise....I will see you soon....just wait & see.

How did things turn out? Did you see him again?

      Nice poetry.

Hi blondey! I did see him again, even though it was a long time before we did get to be together. Unfortunately war changes people and things often happen while you are separated. However, I don't think of him as a love lost but rather a man I was blessed to have in my life. Thank you for reading and commenting. :)

      Iris,

I'm glad you found you were blessed to have him in your life. I had a 5 1/2 yr relationship and I learned a lot from the man even though it was very difficult to move on after it was over.

      :)
